"Aim for the face!" "Activate your special move!"
As the staff shout instructions, the red and blue robots throw punches, and the HP gauges displayed on the monitor decrease. It's a scene that looks as if a fighting game has come to life.
On October 15, 2026, the interactive facility "THE ROBOT PARK ODAIBA" opened in Tokyo's Odaiba. Here, you can enjoy four different attractions, including robot suit battles and piloting a giant robot about 3 meters tall.
This time, we participated in a media preview event before the official opening. We will introduce the appeal of each attraction, focusing on the actual robot battles.

What is the new experience spot "THE ROBOT PARK ODAIBA" in Tokyo・Odaiba?
Access & Location of "THE ROBOT PARK ODAIBA"
About a 1-minute walk from Yurikamome "Daiba Station." "THE ROBOT PARK ODAIBA," located on the 6th floor, West Building of Aqua City Odaiba, is an interactive facility that combine Japanese robot technology with entertainment.
Four Attractions to Enjoy
The interior features cyberpunk-style spaces with impressive neon lighting. Red and blue robot suits and giant robot bodies are lined up, creating an atmosphere as if you've stepped into a futuristic world.
There are four types of attractions available. You can choose your usage time from three free pass options: 30, 60, or 90 minutes, and enjoy your favorite attractions.
- "ROBOT FIGHT" - Battle in robot suits
- "ROBOT RIDE" - Pilot a giant robot
- "Cyber KASSEN" - Digital sword fighting
- "Robot Assembly Experience" - Enjoy making things with real robot materials
All of these are hands-on attractions where you can move your body or try your hand at making things, not just watch. Even if you have no experience operating robots, you can participate with guidance from the staff.
The facility is operated by Robot Ride Inc., which has previously offered exoskeleton robot "Skeletonics" boarding experiences at its development factory in Hachioji City, Tokyo. More than 7,000 people from Japan and abroad have visited so far, and now, to share the appeal of robots with even more people, they have opened a permanent facility in Odaiba.
Serious Battles in Robot Suits! Heated Fights in "ROBOT FIGHT"
The main attraction of the facility is "ROBOT FIGHT," where you put on a robot suit and battle.
Rules, How to Win, Special Moves, and Battle System
The rules are simple: throw punches aiming at the impact sensors attached to your opponent’s face, shoulders, and chest to reduce their HP (health points). Especially, attacks to the face deal heavy damage, so where you target can greatly influence the outcome of the match.
The match consists of three rounds, and the first to win two rounds is the victor. The remaining HP is displayed in real time on a monitor, allowing spectators to instantly grasp the flow of the match.
Additionally, as you take hits, your special gauge fills up, and once it’s full, you can unleash a “special move.” For five seconds after activation, you enter a powered-up state, and the first punch that lands deals four times the normal damage. This system allows for dramatic comebacks even when you’re behind.
Match Report!
This time, the challenger from the red corner was Hasegawa from the FUN! JAPAN staff, who accompanied us for the interview. With support from the facility staff, he put on the robot suit and faced his opponent in the blue corner.
After receiving an explanation of the rules, the match finally began.
“Round 1, Fight!”
At the signal to start, both competitors began throwing punches, with sound effects ringing out each time an attack landed. The staff’s enthusiastic commentary—“Aim for the face!”—added to the excitement, and the match was heated from the very beginning.
After an intense back-and-forth featuring special moves, Hasegawa from FUN! JAPAN in the red corner won the first round. The second round also saw a flurry of punches, but Hasegawa claimed victory again, winning two rounds in a row to settle the match.
Although the matches are short, they require a lot of physical activity, leaving participants out of breath by the end. According to the staff, the robot suit weighs about 15kg, but the joint mechanisms are designed to make movement easier.
For children who have difficulty supporting the weight of the suit themselves, there is also a system where an assist device supports the machine during the match.
That said, dodging your opponent’s attacks while throwing punches requires a fair amount of stamina. Judging the timing of attacks and using special moves adds a strategic element, offering a unique kind of fun that’s different from fighting games played on a screen.
According to the staff, adults often get even more absorbed in the experience than children do.
Age Restrictions & Safety
Robot suits are equipped with protective gear and cushions. To ensure safety, dangerous actions such as running, or grabbing your opponent, are prohibited.
Participants must be at least 7 years old and 110cm tall. Not only is it fun for gaming enthusiasts, but it also looks like a great activity for parents and children or friends to compete together.
About 3 Meters Tall! Move a Giant Robot with Your Own Arms and Legs: “ROBOT RIDE”
Next up is “ROBOT RIDE,” where you can pilot the exoskeleton robot “Skeletonics.”
What is “Skeletonics”?|A System You Control with Your Own Movements
The main feature of Skeletonics is that it does not rely on electric motors for power; instead, it mechanically amplifies and transmits human movements through its structure. It uses a unique mechanism called a "three-dimensional closed-link structure," which allows the robot to move in sync with the rider's arm movements.
In other words, instead of operating a controller like in typical games, your own body becomes the control device.
Field Report!
The machine, standing about 3 meters tall, is truly impressive up close. Its shape resembles an enlarged human body, with complex mechanical parts built into its arms and legs.
During the experience, you board the machine following the staff's instructions and set your feet and arms in the designated positions. Once everything is ready, it's time to start operating!
Another feature is the ability to control even the fingertips in detail. The robot's fingers open and close in sync with your hand movements, allowing for delicate actions like grasping objects, despite the machine's large size.
During the trial session, participants tried various actions, such as swinging a sword or grabbing and throwing a ball.
One of the most impressive moments was stretching out the giant arm to grab a ball and then throwing it. While this is a simple action for a human, seeing a 3-meter-tall robot replicate it is truly astonishing in scale.
The sensation of the huge machine moving in sync with your own movements is unique to Skeletonics. It feels as if your own body has grown larger, giving you a mysterious sense of unity with the robot.
According to the staff, the experience is also very popular among visitors from overseas, with many people enjoying striking poses like anime characters.
If you are a fan of Japanese robot anime or sci-fi works, you will feel as if you have stepped into the world of your favorite stories.
Digital Sword Fighting Showdown! 'Cyber KASSEN' Heats Up
"Cyber KASSEN" is an attraction that combines Japanese sword fighting (chambara) with digital technology.
Rules, How to Play & Field Report!
You wear a glowing sensor on your arm and use a glowing soft sword to battle your opponent. When the sword hits the sensor, the system detects it with sound and light effects.
During the trial session, the match began with the staff's countdown: "3, 2, 1, Start!"
When you swing the sword while watching your opponent's movements, the sensor reacts and an electronic sound rings out. The rules are simple, but it's not easy to dodge your opponent's attacks while aiming accurately.
In this experience, every time an attack landed, an electronic sound played, and a lively back-and-forth unfolded in sync with the staff's live commentary.
Unlike battles using robot suits, the key here is to move nimbly, gauge the distance between you and your opponent, and look for the right timing to attack. You can enjoy not only testing your reflexes but also the mind games of reading your opponent's moves.
Supports Individual Matches, Team Battles, and Group Use
"Cyber KASSEN" supports not only individual matches but also team battles and battle royale formats. Depending on the number of participants and their combinations, you can choose from a variety of battle styles.
According to the staff, it's also popular for group trips by overseas companies and school excursions, and its appeal is that everyone can get excited together regardless of language or nationality.
Since the controls are intuitive and the rules are easy to understand, even visitors to Japan who are not familiar with Japanese can easily join in. If you challenge it with friends or family, it will surely become a memorable part of your trip to Japan.
Experience Real Robot Materials! Try Your Hand at Manufacturing with an Assembly Workshop
In addition to physical attractions, there's also a "Robot Assembly Workshop" where you can enjoy making things.
Workshops Using Actual Materials
In this workshop, you use the same aluminum parts and tools as those used in Skeletonics. By combining the parts, you can create your own original works.
At the venue, there was even an alpaca-shaped creation made by a child on display. It's fascinating how you can create all kinds of works depending on how you combine the metal parts, such as expressing animal shapes.
Not only can you pilot giant robots, but you can also touch the actual materials used in real machines—something unique to this facility. Which parts should you connect, and how, to create the shape you imagine? Through the process of trial and error in assembly, you can also experience the depth of manufacturing.
You Can Take Your Creation Home
If you purchase a parts kit, you can even take your creation home. It's a great point that you can bring home something you assembled yourself as a souvenir from your trip to Japan.
Of course, it's perfect for kids interested in robots or crafts, but it also seems like a great activity for parents and children to try making something together.
Experience Japanese Robot Technology in Tokyo and Odaiba
What left a strong impression on me during this trial event was the surprise of actually operating the robots and the authentic gameplay of the competitive attractions.
The heated battles between robots and the experience of piloting a giant machine with your own body both allowed me to feel the cutting-edge of Japanese technology up close.
The "Skeletonics" used in the facility was originally developed by a team of members who graduated from technical colleges. The staff mentioned that in the future, they hope to make this a hub for sharing Japanese manufacturing technology with the world, with an eye toward integrating VR (virtual reality) and AR (augmented reality).
At "THE ROBOT PARK ODAIBA," you can actually experience the world of robots you admired in anime and games. When you visit Tokyo or Odaiba, why not try a unique technology experience that's different from the usual?
