The world’s most famous intersection, the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, has been featured in popular Japanese works such as the anime “JUJUTSU KAISEN,” “Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex,” the Netflix drama “Alice in Borderland,” and the movie “The Boy and the Beast.” With up to 500,000 people crossing here daily, it’s an essential spot for tourists visiting Tokyo, Japan.
Now, you can get a panoramic view of Shibuya from over 30 meters above ground at the rooftop observation lounge “CROSSING VIEW & ROOFTOP LOUNGE MAG8” in MAGNET by SHIBUYA109, which reopened after a long-awaited renovation on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. “Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex”

A Must-Visit for Japanese Anime and Drama Fans! Enjoy a Luxurious Overlook of This “Sacred Site”
The Shibuya Scramble Crossing is also famous as the setting for global hits like “JUJUTSU KAISEN” (Shibuya Incident Arc), “Alice in Borderland,” and “The Boy and the Beast.”
From the newly renovated MAG8, you can enjoy and photograph the very intersection depicted in these works from above. The panoramic view overlooking the Shibuya Scramble Crossing is incredibly open, and the height of 30 meters above ground offers a unique sense of closeness to the city’s energy—something you can’t experience from a skyscraper. It’s an immersive feeling, as if you’ve stepped right into the world of your favorite story.
Since the area is crowded with people and cars at street level, taking photos can be dangerous or cause inconvenience to others. From the observation lounge, however, you can safely enjoy photography without disturbing anyone—one of its biggest attractions!
What’s New After the March 2026 Renovation?
With this renovation, the observation lounge has improved its layout and expanded its food and beverage offerings so that more guests can comfortably relax and enjoy the view.
Relaxing sofas have been added to the outdoor terrace.
A new luggage storage area for large suitcases has also been installed.
There is even a space where visitors can write messages.
Props for taking photos are also available (during this visit, Hina Matsuri-themed headpieces were provided).
Additionally, MAG8 also features an indoor lounge, so visitors can relax comfortably even on rainy days.
Interactive events where visitors can experience Japanese culture are also held, such as “Kanji Fude Heart,” where your name is handwritten with a brush on an original postcard and presented to you as a gift. MAG8 is evolving into a cultural hub that goes beyond just being an observation deck.
[Featured!] Limited Edition Goods: “Hachiko Lookman”
To commemorate the opening, the original opera glasses “Hachiko Lookman” (1,500 yen) have been released.
Although made of foldable paper, they are surprisingly functional opera glasses with adjustable focus. The design reflects the story of the loyal dog Hachiko, and even the lenses and assembly are entirely made in Japan. This is a special souvenir you can only get at MAG8, making it a memorable part of your trip.

[Includes 1 Drink] Extensive Menu
The admission ticket includes one drink. You can choose from coffee, tea, matcha drinks, as well as alcoholic beverages like draft beer, lemon sour, and matcha sour.
There are also seasonal drinks and food items, so be sure to see what’s available during your visit. At the time of this visit, it was March 2nd, the day before Japan’s spring festival “Hinamatsuri (Doll’s Festival),” so both the drinks and the interior were themed around Hinamatsuri.

[Instagrammable] Take Dynamic Selfies with “Drone Photo”!
If you want to show off on social media, you can’t miss the new “Drone Photo” service!
By linking your smartphone to the rooftop camera, you can take dynamic photos with the intersection as your backdrop, making it look as though they were taken by a drone. We recommend both the lively daytime cityscape and the cyberpunk atmosphere of the neon-lit night.
For 1,500 yen per session, you can take as many photos as you like over a 150-second period. Once you press the shutter button, a countdown will begin, so try out different poses and capture a variety of shots!

Things to Know Before You Visit! MAG8 Guide
To enjoy your visit smoothly, make sure to check the following information.
The Best Times to Visit: Morning or Evening
Best Time for Photos
The sparkling night view is highly recommended! Especially during the “magic hour” just after sunset, the sky appears blue rather than completely dark, creating a slightly magical atmosphere. Since sunset times vary by season, we recommend visiting after 5:00 PM in summer and after 4:00 PM in winter.
With plenty of neon lights and large screens, the night view when it’s completely dark is also beautiful.
Less Crowded Times
If you want to relax and take your time, mornings are best. You can also enjoy the Drone Photo service at your own pace.
