Sanrio characters Exhibition Hotel Floria Tokyo, an immersive exhibition experience featuring beloved Sanrio characters that created a major buzz in South Korea, has finally opened in Japan. The exhibition is being held on the 4th floor of Tokyu Kabukicho Tower in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Running for a limited time from July 15, 2026, to May 31, 2027, the event invites visitors into a dreamlike "hotel" imagined by Sanrio characters, where they can explore themed rooms inspired by each character.
As a Sanrio fan, I actually visited the venue and covered it, so I'll be introducing everything thoroughly, from the highlights to exclusive merchandise information!

Highlights of “Sanrio characters Exhibition Hotel Floria Tokyo”
Hotel Floria is an interactive exhibition event with the theme of "a hotel filled with the dreams of Sanrio characters," where you can enjoy exploring themed rooms dedicated to each character. There are also exclusive goods available only at the venue, so be sure not to miss them.
Get a Random Room Key at Check-in
First, your experience begins at the check-in counter at the entrance, where you receive your room key.
The room key features a Sanrio character, and which design you get is completely random. You won’t know which one you’ll receive until you get it, so it’s all part of the fun!
By the way, the one I received this time was "Kero Kero Keroppi."
Hello Kitty Room
The first room you encounter is Hello Kitty's, featuring an impressive combination of white and bright red. There is also a photo spot where you can take a commemorative picture with Tiny Chum, who sits adorably in the room.
As you go further, you'll find a charming space filled with apples, inspired by Hello Kitty's profile of being "as tall as five apples and as heavy as three apples." A white grand piano and a collection of poems are displayed, expressing Hello Kitty's dream of becoming a pianist or a poet in the future.
My Melody Room
This adorable room is decorated with My Melody's trademark flowers and pink hues. There's also a detailed touch where you can see the landscape of "Mariland," where My Melody and her friends live, outside the window.
Her close friends Flat and Risu are also visiting the room. You can also spot Kuromi, Pompompurin, and Hello Kitty, making it fun to search for Sanrio characters in every corner of the room.
Bathroom (Cinnamoroll)
In the bathroom, you’ll find Cinnamoroll enjoying a relaxing soak in the bathtub. As soon as you step inside, you’ll notice a subtle scent of soap, adding to the authentic bathroom atmosphere.
Even the shampoo bottles and bathrobes are fluffy and pure white, just like Cinnamoroll. The mirror is shaped like a "cloud," which is where Cinnamoroll was born.
On the wall, you’ll also find “Paper Air Fresheners” featuring scents inspired by each character’s unique personality. After leaving the exhibition area, you can purchase them at the merchandise corner.
Kuromi Room
Step into a glamorous room with a distinctly ’90s vibe, imagined as if it were designed by Kuromi herself. Purple and black serve as the main colors, complemented by neon lights, butterflies, skulls, and oversized flowers, creating a cool, edgy atmosphere that is unmistakably Kuromi. Dreamy projection mapping featuring purple roses and fluttering butterflies adds a magical touch. You’ll also find a Kuromi-shaped bed and her sidekick, Baku.
A retro TV is placed in the room, and it is set up so that your own reflection appears on the screen. There are also several photo spots, such as a dresser and a floral-patterned stool, so be sure to take some pictures.
Garden (Little Twin Stars: Kiki)
The garden area was personally the highlight of the entire experience for me. It depicts a “nighttime garden picnic” hosted by Kiki, with Sanrio characters gathering as special guests.
Place the flower-shaped cake gently on the table, and the scene in front of you magically transforms. As the flowers bloom, the faces of Sanrio characters appear at their centers, creating a wonderfully enchanting experience. The colorful flowers blooming vividly in the dark room are so fantastical that I found myself completely captivated by the sight.
Beach (Pochacco)
At the beach area, you’ll find Pochacco gazing out at the ocean, lost in thought. The sand used here is real, while the sound of the waves and the movement of the water on the screen are recreated so realistically that you’ll feel as if you’re actually standing on a beach. Taking a commemorative photo while sitting alongside Pochacco and looking out at the sea is highly recommended!
Be sure to also look for Cinnamoroll riding on a cloud and Hello Kitty trying her hand at surfing.
You’ll also find plenty of other highlights throughout the experience, including the Little Twin Stars (Lala) ballroom, where starlight sparkles all around, Hangyodon’s pool, and Kerokerokeroppi’s pond.
A Surprise Awaits at Checkout
After you have visited all the rooms, the characters will see you off in the checkout area.
Checkout is self-service. Simply hold the room key you received earlier over the scanner, and a commemorative photo card will be dispensed.
Just like the room key, the design of the photo card is random. I received a card featuring the Little Twin Stars (Kiki & Lala).
A Must-See for Sanrio Fans! Event Exclusive Merchandise
After passing through the exhibition area, you will find a merchandise corner at the exit. Only those who have actually viewed the exhibition can purchase the Hotel Floria exclusive goods.
The merchandise area is a highlight in itself. Rather than being just a typical retail space, the walls are covered with beautifully displayed merchandise and shopping bags, all designed to complement the exhibition’s hotel theme.
The lineup includes a wide variety of items, such as plush toys, keychains, luggage tags, random key rings, clear files, and posters. I’ll introduce some of my favorite picks that Sanrio fans won’t want to miss.
Plush Toys (My Melody / Kuromi) 5,940 yen each
There are two types of Hotel Floria exclusive plush toys featuring My Melody and Kuromi. They are fluffy and adorable, making you want to buy both. The design with one of My Melody’s ears standing up and the other drooping is rare, so My Melody fans should definitely check it out!
Plush Toy Keychains (My Melody / Kuromi) 2,750 yen each (tax included)
These are keychain versions of the plush toys introduced earlier. They’re a convenient size for attaching to bags and are perfect for “nuikatsu,” the trend of carrying around your favorite plush toy and taking photos with it. Even the carabiner hardware is heart-shaped, adding an extra cute touch to the design.
Luggage Tags (5 types) 2,640 yen each
Luggage tags that can be attached to your suitcase or bag. There are five types featuring Hello Kitty, My Melody, Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, and Kuromi. The design shows Sanrio characters riding on a hotel luggage cart, adding to the excitement of your trip.
Random Key Rings (9 types) 880 yen each (tax included)
Each key ring features a hotel-inspired charm set consisting of a key and a bell attached to a Sanrio character design. They make a great accessory for bags, pouches, or other personal items. Since they come in blind-box style, you won't know which character you'll get until you open it, adding an extra element of excitement to the experience.
Clear File Sanrio Characters (2 types) 440 yen each
This is an A5-size clear file designed with the world of Hotel Floria. It is easy to carry around and handy not only for small documents, but also for organizing live concert tickets, photos, and trading cards making it useful for "oshikatsu" (Japanese fan culture of supporting your favorite character or idol)!
By the way, when you purchase a paper bag, you will receive an original tag. The character on this tag changes every month. When I visited, it was Hello Kitty, and in September, Hangyodon makes an appearance!
At Hotel Floria, everything from the scent and sound to the visual effects is carefully crafted for each character, making it an exhibition that truly delights Sanrio fans.
The exhibition period is set for a long time, until Monday, May 31, 2027, so please be sure to visit!
