Although it can get pretty crowded during the hanami season, the walkways throughout the park offer a great opportunity to take a stroll and enjoy all the beauty that Yoyogi Park has to offer.

Another popular time to visit Yoyogi Park is during fall, when the leaves change into wonderful displays of orange, red, and yellow! If you visit from the nearest station next to Yoyogi Park, Harajuku, you can see some of the bright yellow leaves from the gingko trees in the park.

Visiting the Yoyogi Park and the Adjacent Meiji Shrine

Located right next to Yoyogi Park, Meiji Jingu Shrine dates back to 1920 and is dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. Access to the shrine is easy and it only takes a couple minutes to walk to the entrance of the shrine from the JR Harajuku Station.

Although the shrine is available to visit all throughout the year, the walkway leading to the shrine is only open from sunrise to sunset, so it is best to visit early in the day.

Renovation work is currently being done on Meiji Jingu shrine for its 100th year anniversary in 2020. Until October 2019, some of the buildings will be worked on, but should pose no major distraction from the beauty of the shrine.

Yoyogi Park Entrance Fee

Although one would imagine a huge park like Yoyogi Park to have an entrance fee, in actuality, it is actually free to enter the park every day! Entry to the park is available all throughout the day and evening, though some on-site facilities close early in the evening.

Yoyogi Park Station

Although there is a Yoyogi Station along the JR Yamanote line, the closest station to Yoyogi Park is Harajuku Station. It takes about 3 minutes from Harajuku station to get to the entrance of Yoyogi Park, making it very easy to get to!
