Tokyo Imperial Palace (皇居)

Although I’m not sure why Imperial palace becomes a running spot, here is the most well-known spot in Tokyo.
The course distance is 5 kilometer for every cycle, runner can easily count a distance they ran. No obstacles like traffic lights. Along the wide road course, there are parks and resting places. Since here is imperial Palace, guards keep an eyes around-the-clock. Therefore runner can feel safe when a night run!
Facilities for massage, shower, public bath, and luggage Storage.

Meiji Shrine is located next to Yoyogi Park. Meiji Shrine Gaien is about 30 minutes by walk from Yoyogi Park. Both places are well-known as a running spot and have a different feature.
Meiji Shrine Gaien
Contrary to Imperial Palace, Meiji Shrine Gaien has huge scale of nature and small amount of traffic which will make you feel relax and concentrated. The highlight scenery is on ginkgo Avenue. Especially when the leaves turn yellow in autumn. The view is breathtaking! Don’t miss the other seasonal views too!
The most famous running course of Meiji Shrine Gaien is 1,325 meter per cycle. You can see a sign that shows a distance every 100 meter.

Yoyogi Park
The main running course is 1,150 meter per cycle. The track is comparatively wide and flat. Runner can also enjoy an out of main road as cross-country running course. Since repair work were conducted in last year, this park’s pavement are also improved. Its highlight is Running track ‘Oda-field’ placed inside the park equipped with 400 meter track and luggage storages which is free of charge.

Meguro-kawa (目黒川)

As you can guess from the above photo, running along the Meguro River is great in spring.
After full bloom season, falling cherry blossom covers over the river just like a flower carpet! Please do enjoy a trendy café and cozy parks along the river side street as well!
