Located in Tokyo’s Takeshiba area, InterContinental Tokyo Bay offers a prime setting overlooking Tokyo Bay. One highlight is the “Club InterContinental Lounge,” an exclusive space for Club Floor guests that reopened following a major renovation on April 1, 2026. The FUN! JAPAN editorial team attended the renovation preview event. In this article, we’ll take you through the newly redesigned lounge, the refreshed breakfast menu, and the guest rooms we toured, sharing all the highlights of this upgraded experience.
Directly Connected to Takeshiba Station! The Appeal of Hotel InterContinental Tokyo Bay
Hotel InterContinental Tokyo Bay boasts outstanding access, being directly connected to the Yurikamome Line's Takeshiba Station and within walking distance from JR and Tokyo Monorail Hamamatsucho Station. It is one of Tokyo's premier luxury waterfront hotels, belonging to InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, which operates over 240 hotels worldwide.
From the guest rooms, you can enjoy two types of views: a bay view overlooking Tokyo Bay and the Rainbow Bridge, or a river view of the skyscrapers known as "Little Manhattan" and the Sumida River. The hotel is also equipped with restaurants, lounges & bars, banquet halls facing Tokyo Bay, and a fitness room, making it popular with a wide range of guests from business travelers to those on leisure or honeymoon. It also offers excellent access to shopping areas like Ginza, sightseeing spots such as Zojoji Temple, Hamarikyu Gardens, and Tokyo Tower, as well as Haneda Airport, making it a recommended place to stay during your visit to Japan.
What is Club InterContinental? An Exclusive Lounge Only for Guests with Club Lounge Access
"Club InterContinental" is a dedicated lounge available only to guests staying in Club Lounge Access rooms on the 20th floor and above. In addition to check-in and check-out at a private reception and free high-speed Wi-Fi access, guests can enjoy a range of benefits including breakfast, afternoon tea, light snacks and free-flow drinks during cocktail hour. You can enjoy a relaxing and luxurious hotel stay.

Luxurious Panoramic Views of Tokyo Bay in a Sophisticated Space
The renovated lounge is themed around "Light and Sea," unified with a color scheme of white, black, and blue. The clean and elegant design perfectly matches its location overlooking Tokyo Bay and leaves a strong impression. The carpet features delicate depictions of bubbles, fish swimming in the open sea, and whale sharks, creating a tranquil ocean atmosphere. With a spacious area of 219.3 square meters and 62 seats, guests can relax and enjoy the view from the window-side seats.
The chandeliers and wall sconces feature semi-translucent natural stone alabaster (gypsum), creating a space enveloped in soft light.
The buffet area walls are adorned with black and white iridescent glass tiles, which reflect light in various ways to add just the right touch of elegance to the space.
The newly added “Common Space” features high tables and is said to be especially popular among international guests.
With sliding partitions, the space can also be used as a private room, making it convenient for everything from business meetings to private gatherings. No reservation is required and anyone can use it if it is available.
Enjoy Breakfast, Afternoon Tea, and Cocktail Time
At the lounge, guests can enjoy three different dining experiences throughout the day: breakfast, afternoon tea, and cocktail time.
Breakfast (7:00–11:00) is served buffet-style, with the option to order your favorite hot dish. In addition to a rich buffet featuring 9 types of salad, 14 types of bread, 4 types of cereal, 4 types of cheese, and 6 types of fruit, you can choose a hot dish from the menu, including two specialties, Japanese breakfast, and egg dishes.
Afternoon tea (14:00–16:00) features five types of sweets, one type of scone, three types of savory items, and a free-flow selection of soft drinks such as coffee and tea. The tea is a hand-blended organic brand from Los Angeles called "art of tea."
Cocktail time (17:30–20:30) offers an extensive selection of alcoholic beverages, including champagne, two types each of white and red wine, draft beer, two types of whisky, gin, vodka, and brandy. There are also four types of salad and 24 types of canapés and cold dishes. You can enjoy food and drinks while watching the sunset over Tokyo Bay.
A Look at the Two New Breakfast Specialties: Tasting and Review Report
With the lounge’s renovation, two new specialty hot dishes have been added to the breakfast menu. Here are my impressions after trying them.
Croque Madame with Ham, Cheese, Fried Egg, and Béchamel Sauce
This dish is generously topped with béchamel sauce and rich Gruyere cheese. By making a slit in the bread and sandwiching the ham inside, the outside becomes crispy while the inside remains moist and tender.
The first thing that catches your eye is the perfectly cooked sunny-side-up egg. When you break the yolk, the creamy egg blends with the béchamel sauce and pairs wonderfully with the bread.
Spinach and Mushroom Egg Cocotte with Minestrone and Baked Cheese
This dish layers Swiss Emmental cheese, sautéed spinach and mushrooms, and minestrone, topped with a poached egg and served with a side of baguette. The richness of the cheese and the savory flavors of the spinach and mushrooms gently spread through your body, creating a comforting taste.
Dipping the accompanying baguette into the soup makes for a highly satisfying and delicious experience.
In addition, we also tried the croissant, Danish pastry, and carrot and apple smoothie, and everything was so delicious that I wanted to have more than one of each.
Check Out the Club Lounge Access Rooms! Enjoy a Luxurious Hotel Stay
The Club Lounge Access rooms are located on the 20th to 24th floors and have been completely renovated this time. With the addition of alabaster bracket lights and dimmable lighting, the rooms now offer a warm and refined atmosphere. The glossy gold walls are adorned with white leaf patterns and ink-painted eucalyptus motifs, adding a subtle touch of elegance. Here are the three types of rooms we actually toured.
1 King Junior Suite Club Lounge Access River View
The Junior Suite, at 52㎡, is the most spacious of the three types introduced here. With windows on two sides, you can enjoy views of both the Sumida River and Harumi at the same time.
The walls feature a charming design with a white leaf pattern and a motif of two birds facing each other, known as “Mukaidori (birds facing each other).” The white leaf symbolizes “purification,” making this the perfect space for those who want to reset their mood during their hotel stay.
The room is also equipped with a desk, allowing you to work or handle tasks comfortably.
In the bathroom, you can soak in the tub while gazing out at Tokyo Bay, with the night view being especially spectacular.
The amenities feature BYREDO, a Swedish fragrance brand, ensuring you can relax with a luxurious scent.
2 Single Premium Club Lounge Access Bay View
This guest room offers sweeping views of Rainbow Bridge and Odaiba.
The walls are decorated with a sumi-e style eucalyptus pattern and Mukaidori. Eucalyptus is considered a lucky plant, symbolizing “rebirth” and “eternal happiness.”
In this room as well, you can enjoy a relaxing bath while taking in the view from the bath with a view.
2 Single Classic Club Lounge Access River View
Guest rooms overlooking the high-rise buildings that line the richly flowing Sumida River. At night, you can enjoy the urban night view of the Sumida River, which is known as "Little Manhattan," offering a quintessentially Tokyo cityscape.
The combination of the white leaf pattern on the wall beside the bed and the warm light from the alabaster bracket lamp creates a comfortable atmosphere that promises a good night's sleep.
Hotel InterContinental Tokyo Bay offers exceptional attention to detail in every aspect of the stay, from the views of Tokyo Bay to the breakfast, lounge service, and guest rooms. Whether as a base for exploring Tokyo or for celebrating a special occasion, it’s definitely worth visiting at least once.
