What is "Chiikawa Park" in Ikebukuro, Tokyo? A Spot That Recreates the World of Chiikawa!
Opened in July 2025 in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, "Chiikawa Park" is an interactive facility where you can "step into the world of Chiikawa." It became a huge topic right after opening, with reservation slots quickly filling up immediately due to its popularity.
This time, I visited with Vince, a FUN! JAPAN staff member from Taiwan who is a big fan of Chiikawa, especially Hachiware. "Chiikawa is really popular in Taiwan too. Since Chiikawa Park has been trending on Taiwanese social media since its opening, there are many travelers who want to visit, so I was really looking forward to today," he said, full of excitement even before entering the park!
Introducing All Floors of Chiikawa Park! Highlights and Recommended Points from a Taiwanese Fan
Chiikawa Park is packed with interactive exhibits and photo spots that recreate famous scenes from the series. As we toured the park with Vince, we’ll introduce the highlights that made us stop in our tracks and the points that especially impressed fans.
Entrance|Welcomed by "Ano Ko" Looming Over You
Chiikawa Park consists of the B1 experience floor and the 1F shop floor. After entering, the first place you step into is the B1 experience floor. From here, your journey through the world of Chiikawa begins.
The first to greet you is "Ano Ko," who appears looming from above at the entrance. The impact is so strong that you can’t help but stop and look up. You can see Vince’s excitement rising as well.
Welcome Theater|Immerse Yourself in the World of Chiikawa with a Giant Three-Screen Theater
Next, you can experience the Welcome Theater, where videos are projected onto a giant three-sided screen. Photography is not allowed in this area, but that makes it easier to focus on the visuals. As you watch, you’ll find your heart gradually warming.
Alarm Clock Corridor|Get Hooked on the Loop of the Black Shooting Star
After the Welcome Theater ends, you’ll enter the “Alarm Clock Corridor.” This is a zone where you can experience the world of the memorable “Black Shooting Star” arc from the Chiikawa story.
This area allows visitors to relive Chiikawa’s sensation of looping through the same day over and over. Even though you’re moving forward, you get a slightly unsettling feeling, as if you’re going around in circles in the same scenery. Vince also got hooked on this mysterious experience, saying, “If I stand here too long, I feel dizzy, like I might end up in a different world…”
Headband Shop | Transform into Your Favorite Character
After passing through the Alarm Clock Corridor, you’ll arrive at a spacious area where your view suddenly opens up into a wide space. Before exploring everything, the first place you’ll want to stop by is the Headband Shop. Here, you’ll find hats, headbands, and other accessories to wear and enjoy the park even more.
Of course, you’ll find familiar characters like Chiikawa, Hachiware, Usagi, and Momonga, but it’s also impressive to see some unexpected characters like Anoko, Dekatsuyo, Kabutomushi, and Black Shooting Star lined up as well. Vince was genuinely torn, saying, “Anoko is really popular and cute in Taiwan, but I think I’ll go with Hachiware after all…”
After much deliberation, Vince ended up choosing his favorite, Hachiware. At Chiikawa Park, anyone can easily wear their favorite character and feel as if they’ve stepped right into the world of Chiikawa—that’s part of what makes it so much fun.
The Tree | A Photo Spot Where You Can Take Pictures with Chiikawa and Friends
The large tree photo spot in the center of this area really stands out to visitors. For fans, it’s an irresistible place that brings to mind the parallel world storyline.
Here, benches are arranged around the tree, so you can take photos together with Chiikawa and friends. Plus, you can save the photos you take directly to your smartphone. Be sure to capture a memory of your visit to Chiikawa Park.
Chiikawa’s House | Adorable Details Just Like in the Story
Next up is a photo spot shaped like Chiikawa’s house. Both the exterior and interior are just like the house you’ve seen in the manga and anime—absolutely adorable!
In the room, Chiikawa is studying for the Weed-Pulling Test. Additionally, familiar items such as the pouch and sasumata pole are lined up inside the room. "There's even an illustration from when you win the house in the campaign!" Vince couldn't stop taking photos.
Hachiware Falling into a Hole | Capture a Memorable Photo
This is a photo spot where you can relive the episode where Hachiware falls into a hole. When taking a photo, the key is to look at the camera as if you're asking Chiikawa for help from inside the hole. If you try to make a slightly troubled expression, it will feel even more like that scene. The photos you take can be received as digital data.
Photo Opportunity | Chase Usagi!
This attraction lets you chase after the quick-moving Usagi and try to capture the perfect moment. Usagi dashes through the forest with the same energy as in the anime—so fast! It's hard just to keep up with your eyes, and before you know it, you'll be completely absorbed.
Vince gave it a try as well, but couldn't keep up with Usagi's speed and had a tough time taking photos. Still, rather than being frustrated, he looked like he was having fun and said, "Next time, I want to take even better photos," determined for a rematch.
Don't Miss the Photo Spots with Rakko, Shisa, and Armor-san!
In this area, there are photo spots where you can enjoy taking pictures not only with Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi, but also with other characters. For example, at the spot with Rakko-sensei driving his car, you can feel like you've stepped right into a scene from the series.
Additionally, you can spot Shisa and Ramen Yoroi-san chatting together during Ramen “Rō”’s break. Of course, they're holding bottles of black oolong tea.
Akumuna Room | Step Into Chiikawa’s Darker World
From here, the atmosphere changes dramatically. The next area is the “Akumuna Room,” where you can experience a slightly darker side of Chiikawa.
This room is a nightmare-like world ruled by Zou. It’s a maze lined with mirrors that will throw off your sense of direction. Even adults often find themselves lost. What lingers in your ears is Zou’s eerie singing voice, which makes the strange atmosphere even more intense and gradually brings a sense of fear.
Near the exit, Zou appears as if waiting for you. For those who have read the manga or watched the anime, you’ll likely feel a mix of happiness at meeting Zou and a bit of fear.
Kurimanju-senpai’s Evening Drink | Heartwarming Scene of a Nighttime Toast in the Forest
After leaving the Akumuna Room, you’ll find yourself in a vast nighttime forest. The warm atmosphere changes completely, and there’s a slightly eerie feeling. In this space, you’ll encounter Kurimanju-senpai. Just seeing him enjoying his usual evening drink brings a strangely comforting feeling.
Forest Observatory | The Excitement Before a Hunt in the Night Forest
The Forest Observatory is a 3D theater where you can meet various creatures. Set in the nighttime forest, memorable characters from the series like Dekatsuyo and Ano-ko, who are targets for subjugation, make their appearances. The 3D glasses you can take home make the experience even more immersive.
Even in the manga and anime, the subjugation scenes are a bit scary, but this 3D theater doubles the tension. “When Chiikawa and friends head out for a subjugation (hunt), maybe they feel this same anxiety, but they have to keep moving forward,” says Vince. You’ll naturally find your own excitement overlapping with Chiikawa and friends’ feelings.
Goblin Jail | Giant Ode Goes on a Rampage!
As you move forward, you’ll come across a space that recreates the episode where Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi are locked up in a prison. What grabs your attention is Ode rampaging in front of the jail cell. With a body so huge you have to look up, he’s holding the goblins and looks like he could spring into action at any moment. In the back, you can also spot Chiikawa and friends trapped inside.
Vince also stopped in his tracks, gazing intently and exclaiming, “Ode is even bigger than I imagined!” He couldn’t hide his surprise. You can also take a photo inside the jail area together.
Hiroma|That Unforgettable Scary Episode Comes to Life
Here, you can experience the “Hiroma” episode, which is famous among fans as one of the scariest episodes. After passing through the torii gate and entering the inn, an even more unsettling atmosphere awaits. As you step inside, you’ll hear the sound of stones being shattered from somewhere…
What you’ll want to pay special attention to in this room is Hachiware, who is on the verge of being caught. Just like in the manga, Hachiware has his little claws out—but in fact, this is the only place in Chiikawa Park where you can see Hachiware with his claws! Vince, who loves Hachiware the most, couldn’t stop saying “So cute!” even as he shivered in this room.
The Chiikawa characters walk through the night forest. Illuminated by the light, their figures signal that this area is coming to an end.
Greeting Area|Who Will You Meet? It’s a Surprise Each Day
After passing through the night forest, the atmosphere suddenly softens and you enter a bright world. Waiting for you there is the Greeting Area. Here, one of Chiikawa, Hachiware, Usagi, or Momonga will appear randomly. Which character you’ll meet is a surprise each time, but the excitement of knowing you’ll definitely meet someone keeps your spirits high until the very end.
On this day, Chiikawa appeared—wearing a special Chiikawa Park headband! Vince couldn’t help but run over and give them a big hug. Of course, you can take photos together, but you can also enjoy seeing Chiikawa’s expressions up close or snapping close-up shots—make the most of your limited time in your own way.
Shop Area|Surrounded by Exclusive Chiikawa Park Goods for a Blissful Time
After thoroughly enjoying the experience floor, head to the shop area on the first floor. This floor is almost entirely dedicated to merchandise, allowing you to continue immersing yourself in the world of Chiikawa as you shop.
The sales area is neatly organized by category, such as plush toys, stationery and daily goods, apparel, and snacks, making it easy to browse. What’s most surprising is that every item sold here is a Chiikawa Park original product.
Vince commented, “I’m especially happy to see so many character goods that are hard to find in Taiwan. Since everything is original, it’s hard to choose just one,” as he wandered back and forth in the area. He kept picking up one item, only to be drawn to another shelf, clearly enjoying the delightful dilemma.
We’ll introduce the Chiikawa Park shop and recommended goods in more detail in a separate article.
Don’t Forget to Stop by the Game Area
Along with the shop floor, be sure to check out the game area, also located on the first floor. There are two games you can try: “Meatball Rolling” and “Kumonosu Catcher.” Each game costs 700 yen, and you can choose whichever you like to play.
The key point is that prizes are properly prepared. If you succeed even once, you’ll receive a prize, and even if you don’t win, you’ll still get a participation prize.
When you actually try it, it’s surprisingly difficult! Even if you think you’ve aimed well, things don’t always go as planned, and there are moments when you feel frustrated, thinking, “I was so close!” That’s why the joy of succeeding is all the greater. No matter the result, it’s exciting, so it’s definitely worth trying.
Near the game area, there’s a dedicated Chiikawa entrance and exit, so be sure to look for it!
