What's in your mind if you heard about Tokyo? Asakusa, Akihabara, Ginza, Shibuya, Harajuku? Yes, you're absolutely right. Everyone knows those places. But, Tokyo has many beautiful and interesting places. This time, I will bring you to the Edo Tokyo Museum in Sumida city. It's better to know the history and development progress of Tokyo era by era.
It takes only 3 minute with Chuo line train from Akihabara station to Ryogoku station. And if you are in tokyo Skytree, take Tokyo Metro train from Kinshicho station to Oshiage station and then change with JR Chuo line train to Ryogoku station. It all takes only 5 minutes. You need 3 minutes walking from station to the Edo tokyo Museum. It will be surprise in the station, you can find all yokozuna photos. Yokozuna is sumo champion in sumo tournament. And there is a table size of sumo. You can measure your body, who are the biggest. Why they put a lot of sumo things? Because 1 minutes walking, there is a Ryogoku Kokugikan sumo wrestler or the place where sumo tournament will be held. And behind Ryogoku Kokugikan is the Edo Tokyo museum.

The first thing you should do is to queue up to buy a ticket. General ticket is 600 yen each person and for above 65 years old should pay 300 yen only for each person. You will directly going to the 6th floor and will exit through the 5th floor later. Do not forget to take a brochures indoor map. If you need a guide to explain in English, please come to the voluntary desk service area. They provide free facilities for guide, wheelchair and baby car.
On the 6th floor, you will pass through a replica of Nihonbashi bridge in original size. Amazing isn't it? Across the bridge, there are two dioramas made very details about public life in Edo period (between 1603 until 1868). And then going to the 5th floor, there are several corners inside. Edo corner has school building, toilet, carpenter's house in original size.

We can imagine how they life in that period. Don't forget to take a lot of picture in amazing Kabuki stage corner, with mannequin wearing a beautiful kimono.
Feel tired?? We can sit down in front of the stage, some musicians performing Koto or Shamisen ( Japan's traditional instrument).
We can see the development of Tokyo in other corner. Don't forget to trying tricycles, rickshaw, watching household appliances likes black and white television, refrigerator, radio, cars or some toys. Maybe, among the items on the display are owned by your grandparents. A lot f beautiful memories inside, isn't it?

There are also some photos of the ruins when Tokyo rocked by earthquake in 1923. Big destruction makes some difference in Tokyo land area. Tokyo grew fast in economic development. Vertical housing or apartment was rise more than landed house. We can watch the Japan model house and apartment.
It takes 3 hours inside before we left the museum. We can buy some souvenirs near the exit door. It's nice to adding a new knowledge in the edo Tokyo Museum. Enjoy Japan!!
