Lee’s Foodblog – A delightful French Brunch

Tired from my stroll around the Hiroo area last week, I popped into Jouvaud, a popular bakery/café. Jouvaud is the Japan flagship store of its namesake from Provence. Helmed by Frederic Jouvaud, an acclaimed pastry chef from France, the store specializes in pastries and sweets.

I decided to forgo the sweets for an order of the brunch set instead. The set is comprised of a salmon sandwich placed in a freshly baked baguette. On the side, a fresh salad with a light French dressing.

The meal is complemented with a delicious cold-serve avocado soup, dressed with olive oil on the top and with surprise tomato gelee at the bottom of the cup. To cleanse the palate, an olive bread is placed on the side. You may eat it just as is, or dip it into the soup.

The atmosphere of the café is traditional, and soft jazz music plays in the background. Not a bad place if you need to unwind for the afternoon. If you are ever in the Hiroo area, do try this café out!
