Toei Marugoto One Day Pass

There are several one day transportation passes that you can buy in Tokyo, such as the Metro one day pass and East JR one day pass. And Today, I am introducing a one day pass that’s not so popular but surprisingly recommendable, the Toei Marugoto One Day Pass! It is a one day pass that only cost 700 yen that offers unlimited use of the Toei Subway, Toei Bus, Toden Arakawa Line, and the Nippori-Toneri Liner! With this one day pass, you can have a satisfying one day trip in Tokyo. In the following, it is my experience using this Toei Marugoto One Day Pass.

My One Day Trip

12:00PM - My Home (Buying the ticket) to Asakusa

Since I live on the Toei Asakusa Line, I could start my trip with the one the pass directly without spending extra money. I bought the ticket from the ticket machine in the station. It was really simple; just press the one day pass button and put in 700 yen, the pass will come out! I passed by Asakusa just to take the Toei bus. But it might be a good choice to stay for a while and go around in Asakusa.

12:35PM – Asakusa (Taking Toei Bus Higashi 42 Kou) to Minami-Senju Station

12:55PM – Minami-Senju Station to Minowabashi Station

I took the Higashi 42 Kou Toei Bus to Minami-Senju Station. It was not the main destination as well, but it was a good experience to take the bus and take a walk. I walked from there to the Minowabashi Station for around 10 minutes. Since the weather was amazing and the street was broadcasting jazz music, it was a comfortable walk. Around the Minowabashi Station, there was an old shopping street. The atmosphere in this place was classic and vintage.

1:10PM – Minowabashi Station (Taking Toden Arakawa Line) to Kumanomae Station (Transfer and take the Nippori Toneri Liner) to Toneri-koen Station

Minowabashi Station is the start/end of the Toden Arakawa Line, which is known as one of the very last streetcar (tram) line in Tokyo. That’s also the reason why I decided here as my first destination. It’s my first time taking this line and it made me feel like I wasn’t in Tokyo. Everything seems to be slowed down. I transferred at the Kumanomae Station to take the Nippori-Toneri Line. This line is quite different from the Toden Arakawa Line. It is an automated guideway transit system, which is way more modern than the streetcar. After enjoying the great views from the Nippori-Toneri Liner, I arrived my second destination, the Toneri Park. This is a relatively new park that is the third biggest park in Tokyo. It felt refreshing to have a walk in this park under such a good weather. You can picnic, barbeque or play tennis in this park. It is surely a good play to visit during the weekend.

2:15PM Toneri-koen Station (taking Nippori Toneri Liner) to Minumadai-Shinsuikoen Station

Out of curiosity, I took two more station to the end of the Nippori Toneri Liner, the Minumadai-Shinsuikoren Station. I thought there would be a park in this place, but apparently, I couldn’t find it. There was only a river. But since I had the one day pass, why not trying to go to places that I didn’t know!

2:35PM Minumadai-Shinsuikoen Station (taking Nippori Toneri Liner) to Nishi-Nippori Station

Once again, I was trying to go to new places that I haven’t been. And I got to the Nichi-Nippori Station. I only went out of the station for a while, but I liked the view in this place a lot. There were several railways crossing in this place, so you can see a unique urban view here.

3:00PM Nishi-Nippori Station (taking Nippori Toneri Liner) to Kumanomae Station

(Transfer and take the Toden Arakawa Line) to Arakawa-Yuenchimae Station

Back to the Toden Arakawa Line, I moved on to my third destination, the Arakawa-Yuenchimae Station. There is the Arakawa Amusement Park in this place. I got into the park for free by showing the one day pass! But you still need to pay a little amount of money (100 yen) if you want to ride any attraction. There is also a mini museum introducing the streetcar. Wondering around in this amusement park simply made me happy.

3:50PM Arakawa-Yuenchimae Station (Taking Toden Arakawa Line) to Arakawa Shakomae Station

In this station, there was a field displaying some old streetcars. If you are a person who really loves streetcars, trains, or railway, you should check this place out! But make sure that you come before 4PM, because it closes at 4PM.

4:05PM Arakawa Shakomae Station (Taking Toden Arakawa Line) to Kajiwara Station
4:20PM Kajiwara Station to (Taking Toden Arakawa Line) Ouji Station

Then I moved on to the Kajiwara Station, there is a Japanese confections store, which is famous for the streetcar design confections. I didn’t stay there for too long, because I got pretty hungry. I moved on to Ouji Station. This is a big station that connects to JR. There were a lot of restaurants and I chose a popular oden restaurant called “Hirazawa Kamaboko”. It’s a tiny restaurant you eat and drink while standing up. I got a lot of oden and sashimi with some cocktail. It is basically a bar but in a typical Japanese style. People were friendly there and they all joked around. The foods were delicious and cheap. With only 1,500 yen, I enjoyed drinking and eating until I got full.

After eating, I had a walk in another park called Asukayama Park. This is a famous park when it comes to cherry blossom. Although there wasn’t any cherry blossom yet, it felt comfortable and relaxing walking in here after a great meal.

6:10PM Asukayama Station (Taking Toden Arakawa Line) to Shin-Koshinzuka Station (transfer to Toei Mita Line) to Home

I left the Asukayama Park from the other side, then directly took the Toden Arakawa Line from the Asukayama Station. And finished my one day trip with the Toei Marugoto one day pass. Having the access to so many places, I would say that it’s totally worth it. It was also a brand new experience taking the streetcar. If you try a one day trip with this route, you might find a different impression of Tokyo!
