Sumida Aquarium is an aquarium located on the 5th and 6th floors of the Tokyo Sky Tree Town Solamachi. It is characterized by having one of the largest indoor open-air swimming pools in Japan, divided into nine zones. However, there are not as many fish exhibits as a general aquarium; instead, the main attraction is a large aquarium full of penguins. The biggest highlight of Sumida Aquarium is the large penguin tank, where you can get so close to the penguins that you can even see them swimming underwater. In coral reef tanks, beautiful coral reefs and creatures can be appreciated from all directions with a 360-degree tank. It’s also worth noting that the aquarium is also conducting an environmental reconstruction project, in which coral is transplanted from Okinawa's sea, raised in artificial seawater, and finally returned to the oceanic sea.
