Kanda Myojin Shrine dates back to the year 730 and has a great history in Tokyo. In May of every odd-numbered year, hundreds of thousands of people come for the Kanda Matsuri. It is believed to be the ideal place to pray for prosperity.
Deities found at the Kanda Myojin Shrine include Daikokutem, Ebisu and TAIRA no Masakado and they are taken to be the protectors of Tokyo’s 108 neighborhoods. They are also believed to bring success in family, business, marriage and many more.
The Kanda Myojin Shrine is a preferred Akihabara shrine for anime fans. This is because it embraces the otaku culture fully by highlighting characters from the popular anime Love Live. The characters are found on ema. These are wooden tablets used on charms and for writing wishes.

Yushima Shrine
It is also called Yushima Tenmangu and Yushima Tenjin and was originally established in the year 458. It is located north of Kanda Myojin. The deity of Ameno-tajikarao-no-mikoto is worshipped at this shrine.
A historical scholar known as SUGAWARA no Michizane was enshrined at Yushima Shrine in 1355. This made the shrine to be very popular for students and scholars. They mostly visit the shrine to pray for exams success. In Spring, the shrine also has beautiful plum blossoms.

Info about JR Kanda Station
It was opened in 1919 and it is operated by the East Japan Railway Company.
The Tokyo Metro Kanda station opened in 1931. You are able to find convenient access to other parts of Tokyo through the Keihin-Tohoku line, Tokyo Metro Ginza line, Chuo line and JR Yamanote line.

Navigating the Kanda Station, Japan
Kanda is found next to Akihabara station both separated by the Kanda river.
Some remains of the Old Manseibashi Station are also found here.
The area mostly has been converted to an antiquated shopping area called Maach-ecute. This contributes to retain the old station’s charm.
At the south exit from the Kanda Station, you find the pub and Izakaya district. There are various Izakaya where you can have a great night-out with friends.
You also have the option of going to the Devil Craft Kanda, where incredible Chicago deep dish pizza and craft beer are offered.
