Japanese are using chopsticks almost everyday and they are a must for Japanese lifestyle.
People from overseas come to Japan and they buy chopsticks as their souvenirs to bring back home.
I visited this chopstick store located in Hiroo, Tokyo to get some for my family.
I found out that they have a great service to make a pair of specialized engraved chopsticks.
The service is to engrave your name directly on the chopsticks.
First you find your favorite pair at the store, then order what you want to engrave after you purchase the item with an additional charge of 300 yen.
Reasonable, right?
You can choose from Hiragana, Katakana(both are Japanese), Kanji(Chinese characters) or English.
Do you want your name engraved?
Don’t worry.
They will translate your name to Japanese if you desired to.
There are also options of different colors as well.
Gold, black, red, or blue.
You can even see how the craftsman works right in front of you.
It is fascinating to see how they carve something in such a small space.
Engraving usually takes 10 to 15 minutes to make.
Because it is engraved, you don't have to worry about the engraving wearing off after washing, it’s almost permanent.
I think it will make a great gift to anyone who uses chopsticks.
I am glad I found this place!
