A unique coffee shop in Jingu Mae and Shibuya
A place in Jingu Mae, Shibuya offers a unique coffee experience for coffee lovers that you can’t find any other place in Tokyo. Customers can choose coffee beans from wide varieties to bring back home to enjoy, taste coffee without milk made by a professional barista and a free workshop is also available to extend your knowledge of coffee.

I am a huge fan of coffee since I was an undergrad student. My country, Indonesia, has various kinds of coffee to choose from due to its diverse islands. Rather than latte, I prefer the original taste of coffee in the form of espresso or americano. In my opinion, the aroma and the taste of coffee give us refreshing and therapeutic effects on our busy life.

One time, I was walking around Jingu Mae Shibuya near Apple Store Omotesando, I came across a unique building with black colored wall. The place didn’t have its name outside and I saw the black façade and 36 gold-colored small cubes attached on the wall. When I walked into it, I was surprised that it was actually a coffee shop which also sells coffee’s beans. This coffee shop sells various kinds of coffee.

The interior looks fancy with the warm light, full backdrop of coffee beans with its beautiful packaging and the barista wears a kind of special coffee-lab uniform. They sell about 15 and 20 varieties of beans from all over the world including Mandheling, which is from my country. The cost of 150g package ranges from ¥1200 to ¥3500. What is unique about the coffee shop is that the barista explains detailed information about the character of each kind of coffee, level of acidity, and give recommendation. When you buy coffee beans, they will give you a card named “karute” which keeps the track of the profile, preference of taste, purchase history and feedback. You can take coffee workshop every weekday from 6pm to 7pm. No reservation is needed for it and everyone is welcome to the workshop.

When I came to this café, I told the barista that I liked Mandheling coffee and what I liked about it was a good aroma of coffee with creamy flavor. The barista recommended Brumas, coffee from Costa Rica because it has chocolate and cream flavor. It was great and exactly like what the barista said.
I think it’s the best place for coffee lover(black coffee lover)because they have the best quality coffee beans and the best roasting process. Besides the quality of the coffee, they have a great ambience of their interior. So I recommend it to designers, architects or art enthusiasts as well, It is really great place to visit and have the best coffee experience in Tokyo.
