Visiting the Robot Restaurant in Tokyo!

Since Japan is so full of things to do, it’s always fun to ask for recommendations. Before my first trip to Tokyo with my sister and some friends, I made a list of all of the suggestions people gave me, and the most common answer was “you must go to the Robot Restaurant!”

Often when I asked them what was so special about this place, they would say something like, “You just have to go and see for yourself. It’s hard to explain!” Of course, this made me very curious, so I decided to book tickets to see what was so special about this “Robot Restaurant.”

I was a little surprised to see that the price for the event was 8,000 yen, but since many people recommended this experience I decided that we must go for our trip to Tokyo. Instead of a restaurant, it is more like a show. You are able to purchase a bento style meal for an additional 1,000 yen, but I recommend having your food before or after the show because there are so many great restaurants nearby! Your ticket price does include one drink, and there are additional drinks and small snacks for purchase before the show and during intermissions.

When we arrived at the venue, we were greeted by large bright lights, robotic decorations, and fun special effects. You must arrive to your showtime at least 30 minutes early because it takes some time to get all of the guests checked in and seated. After checking in we were taken to the room where the show would take place. There is a long stage in the middle and bleacher style seating on both sides.

When the show began, we were truly amazed. The performers were so incredible, and their costumes and robotic displays were like nothing we had ever seen. There was dancing and singing and acting and so much more. It became clear right away why this event is something all visitors and locals must see in Tokyo!

The whole show lasts 90 minutes, and it is broken up into segments so the performers can switch out the sets and their costumes. It was truly something that is difficult to explain, but everyone in my group agreed that it was totally worth going to!
