Such as an accent, festival, and also food they eat.
Rice ball is one Japanese traditional food that is simply made from white rice formed into triangular or oval shapes and wrapped in seaweed.
It is normally filled with grilled salmon, pickled plum (umeboshi), fish eggs and so on, but you can pretty much use anything for the filling, like tuna with mayonnaise might sounds odd, but it is actually tasty.
I find it interesting that there are so many different kinds of the filling of the rice ball depends on where it is from.
This store called momochi has 47 different kinds of the fillings that are from each states in Japan.

It is fascinating just to look at what they have.
For example, deep fried potstickers(gyoza) from Tochigi and soybean flour(kinako) from Yamaguchi.
I am born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, but I have never heard of these kinds.

My favorite kind was a tempura prawn from Aichi.
The outside is slightly salty from salted white rice, but the inside is little sweet from the prawn was dipped in sweet sauce.
It is soft and moist, but also there are a little crunchy part left from deep frying.
Everything looked delicious.
It is hard to try everything all at once, because there are so many kinds.
I would love to try different kinds everytime I visit here, and find my own favorite.
