What Kind of Hotel is "Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Nagasaki Hotel Seifu"? The Perfect Hot Spring Inn for Sightseeing in Nagasaki with Stunning Views
"Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Nagasaki Hotel Seifu" is located halfway up Mt. Inasa, overlooking downtown Nagasaki. The hotel is situated on a hill overlooking the city across Nagasaki Port.
As soon as I arrived at the hotel and entered the lobby, the first thing that caught my eye was the panoramic view of Nagasaki city spreading out beyond the large windows.
"Wow, so this is how Nagasaki looks from here!"
I was captivated from the very beginning by the breathtaking scenery that made me want to exclaim out loud. The hotel is situated on a hill overlooking the city across Nagasaki Port, offering an open and liberating view that can only be experienced here. My anticipation for the upcoming hotel stay soared instantly.
Inside the hotel, the interiors feature a calming colour scheme centred on brown, creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Looking out at the scenery through the windows, you’ll want to spend a relaxing time inside the hotel.
After the renovation, new facilities such as the “Premium Lounge,” where you can enjoy drinks while admiring the view, and the “Post-Bath Lounge,” perfect for relaxing after a hot spring bath, have been added. In both lounges, you can enjoy beer, soft drinks, tea, and more, and you’re free to use them as many times as you like during your stay. *Alcoholic beverages are served only in the afternoon.
You can choose your favorite yukata and change into it inside the hotel, so after checking in, slip into a yukata and switch to hot spring inn mode. You can relax at the hotel, enjoying the view from the lounge or soaking in the hot springs.
Guest Rooms | A Modern Japanese Space Themed on Wairo (Traditional Japanese Colours)
With the renovation on April 29, 2026, all guest rooms have been transformed into modern Japanese spaces themed on “Wairo” (traditional Japanese colors). The hotel features three designs that incorporate these delicate hues: “Kasumi Chigusa,” “Tsuchi Yamabuki,” and “Shinonome Aofuji.”
*“Wairo” refers to colors unique to Japan, inspired by Japanese tradition, nature, and seasonal scenery.
This time, I stayed in the “Standard Japanese Room (12 tatami mats).” The calm, Japanese-style space centered around tatami flooring is particularly striking.
It’s the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to set down your luggage and take a moment to relax after arriving at your destination. With a spacious 12-tatami layout, you won’t feel cramped even if you open your suitcase, and you can easily organise your belongings for a one-night stay.
Outside the Window: Spectacular Views of Nagasaki! Enjoy Different Scenery by Day and Night
And above all, what you’ll want to enjoy most in this room is the view that spreads out beyond the window. Outside the window, you’ll find a breathtaking panorama overlooking Nagasaki City from Mount Inasa.
During the day, you can gaze out over Nagasaki Port and the city, taking your time to observe the layout of the city and the surrounding mountain ranges. As evening falls, the city gradually lights up, and the scenery transforms, offering a completely different atmosphere from the daytime.
If you dim the lights in your room and look out from the window, it feels as if you’ve captured the city of Nagasaki in a single painting. After a day of sightseeing, instead of heading out again to see the night view, you can relax in your room and enjoy Nagasaki’s nightscape—an experience unique to this hotel with its spectacular views.
Hot Springs | Enjoy “Yumeguri” Bath-Hopping and Nagasaki’s Night View at Two Large Public Baths
A must during your stay at “Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Nagasaki Hotel Seifu” is the “yumeguri” bath-hopping experience. There are two large public baths: one on the 3rd floor and one on the top floor, with separate times for men and women. If the timing works out, you can enjoy both baths during your stay.
Both baths offer views of Nagasaki city, allowing you to enjoy a special experience unique to hot spring inns—soaking in the onsen while taking in the scenery.
Enjoy Nagasaki’s Night View from the Open-Air Bath on the Top Floor
Be sure to check out the open-air bath at “Tenbō no Yu” on the top floor. Located over 100 meters above sea level, it features a 270-degree panoramic view overlooking Nagasaki city and Nagasaki Bay. As you soak in the open-air bath, the cityscape of Nagasaki unfolds before your eyes. During the day, you can enjoy a liberating bath while gazing at the port and city.
And as night falls, the “10 Million Dollar Night View” of Nagasaki—recognised as one of the New Three Major Night Views of the World—spreads out before you.
“Tenbō no Yu” also has an indoor bath, where you can enjoy the view through large glass windows. This means you can relax and gaze at Nagasaki city regardless of the season or weather.
Additionally, you can enjoy the view of Nagasaki from the sauna as well. Whether soaking in the bath or warming up in the sauna, you can simply gaze at the sparkling city. It was truly a luxurious experience.
Check Out the Large Public Bath on the 3rd Floor
The other large public bath is “Manten no Yu” on the 3rd floor. Unlike “Tenbō no Yu” on the top floor, here you can enjoy the cityscape from a closer perspective while you bathe.
Since the baths alternate between men and women, if you have enough time during your stay, be sure to try both baths.
After Your Bath, Head to the “Yugari Lounge”
After enjoying the hot spring, be sure to stop by the newly established "Post-Bath Lounge," which was added during the recent renovation. At the drink counter, you can enjoy complimentary soft drinks, beer, and ice lollies (please note: alcoholic beverages are served only in the afternoon). With a drink in hand, you can relax your body, warmed by the hot spring, while gazing out at the sweeping views of Nagasaki through the windows.
There are also paid massage chairs* available, making it the perfect place to rest your tired body after a day of sightseeing.
I really appreciated the range of amenities available after a bath, which made the experience especially relaxing.
*With the introduction of the all-inclusive system on October 1, the massage chairs are now available free of charge.
Dining | All-You-Can-Eat Nagasaki Gourmet! Trying the Premium Buffet
For dinner, head to the premium buffet where you can sample a wide variety of Nagasaki’s famous local dishes. The restaurant’s large windows also offer a stunning view of Nagasaki’s nightscape.
The buffet features local specialties such as "Lemon Steak," "Turkish Rice," and "Sara Udon." New additions include "Onsen Seiro Mushi" (ingredients steamed in a bamboo steamer using hot spring steam) and Häagen-Dazs ice cream, making for a lineup that will leave you wanting to tuck into a hearty meal.
*Please check the official website for serving times and service details. Menu items and ingredients may change depending on the season and availability.
A Must-Try! Nagasaki Local Gourmet
The first dish you’ll want to try is the local specialty, "Lemon Steak." This local Nagasaki dish combines meat with the refreshing flavour of lemon. Other local favourites include "Turkish Rice," a Western-style one-plate meal that originated in Nagasaki, and "Sara Udon," a regional dish featuring crispy noodles topped with a piping-hot thick sauce made with vegetables and seafood. These unique Nagasaki dishes are all available at the buffet.
There are also seafood dishes that reflect Nagasaki’s coastal location, such as hiramasa (yellowtail amberjack) sashimi, known for its firm texture and delicate, rich flavour.
Trying the Newly Added "Onsen Seiro Mushi"
One of the new highlights from the recent renovation is the "Onsen Seiro Mushi."
Choose your favourite ingredients—shrimp, scallops, vegetables, and more—place them in a bamboo steamer, and let the hot spring steam cook them slowly. When you lift the lid, steam rises gently, carrying an appetising aroma. Steaming brings out the natural flavours of the ingredients, so even after sampling many dishes, you’ll find yourself reaching for more.
Luxurious Desserts, Too!
For a delightful after-meal treat, head to the dessert section. From elegant sweets to refreshing frozen fruits, there is a wide variety to choose from. Pick your favourite dessert and enjoy a relaxing moment after your meal.
The lavish selection of dishes adds to the appeal of dining in this romantic setting, with a breathtaking night view spreading out beyond the window. The buffet-style dining allows you to sample a little of everything that catches your eye, making for a truly satisfying experience.
Premium Lounge | Relax While Gazing at the Night View
After dinner, before returning to your room, stop by the "Premium Lounge." Once night falls, the cityscape of Nagasaki that you saw earlier transforms into a sea of countless lights. The night view, with only the city of Nagasaki sparkling in the darkness, is truly mesmerizing. I spent a relaxing time gazing at the night view while enjoying complimentary drinks.
The hotel also features a manga corner, a table tennis table, and karaoke rooms.
Whether you want to quietly enjoy the night view or have fun with friends and family, you can spend your evening at the hotel in your own style.
