Unusually for Japan, the general public can participate in the auction (“seri”) (held on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month from 6:30 a.m.). If you spot something you want, raise your hand in time with the auctioneer’s calls and name your price.

From Fukuoka Airport: About 2 hours (by subway and JR limited express)
