As part of the "Tenjin Big Bang" redevelopment project led by Fukuoka City, a new multi-purpose complex is being constructed on the south side of Tenjin Station, on the former site of IMS, in Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City. The 21-story building with 4 basement levels, scheduled for completion in December 2026, will combine offices, commercial stores, and a hotel, making it a new landmark in Tenjin. In 2027, the Seattle-based hotel brand "Ace Hotel" is also scheduled to open a location here. The facility will be conveniently located with direct access from the station.

[Scheduled for October 2026] Skateboard Arena Inside Boat Race Fukuoka
One of the largest indoor skateboard parks in Japan will open on the grounds of "Boat Race Fukuoka" in Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City. With a total area of about 3,000 square meters, the park is divided into two areas: a "Street" area with slopes and obstacles for different skill levels and styles, and a "Park" area shaped like a bowl. The park is supervised by Takashi Nishikawa, who served as the head coach of Japan's national skateboarding team at the Paris Olympics. The facility is designed to a professional standard, capable of hosting international competitions.
In addition to the skateboard arena, a new “community hub”(nigiwai facility) featuring an event plaza, restaurants, and sports-related shops is also scheduled to open.

[Scheduled to Open in Summer 2026] NCB Hall
NCB Hall, scheduled to open in January 2026, will be directly connected to JR Hakata Station via an underground passage, offering excellent convenience just five minutes on foot. As a multifunctional hall with a maximum capacity of about 400 people, it is expected to host a wide range of events, from concerts to international conferences and seminars.
The acoustic design was handled by Nagata Acoustics, a company renowned for designing numerous concert halls both in Japan and abroad, and uses Obi cedar, a specialty wood from Kyushu. In addition, the seats in the auditorium are decorated with the traditional Kenjo (imperial offering) pattern of Hakata-ori, a traditional craft from Fukuoka, allowing visitors to experience Fukuoka’s traditions in a calm and refined atmosphere.

The new flagship hotel of Prince Hotels will open in the seaside area of Momochihama, in the western part of Fukuoka City. The 20-story building features 229 guest rooms, all with ocean views, allowing guests to enjoy breathtaking views of Fukuoka City.

In January 2026, the new commercial complex “Leiria Kasugabaru” will open on the first and second floors of Nishitetsu Kasugabaru Station in Kasuga City, which neighbors Fukuoka City. Fukuoka Budokan, a facility that can be used for a variety of sports such as judo, kendo, and basketball, will open in a location close to the center of Fukuoka City. The exterior is characterized by a design inspired by Hakata-ori, a traditional craft of Fukuoka. The building has four floors. On the basement and first floors, there is a sub-arena that can be used for various sports such as basketball and volleyball, as well as a traditional Japanese sumo ring. The main judo and kendo halls are located in the open space between the second and third floors. On the top floor (fourth floor), there is an archery range.

Nintendo, the company at the forefront of Japanese gaming culture, has opened its first official store in Kyushu. “Nintendo FUKUOKA” opened on November 14, 2025, on the 8th floor of Amu Plaza Hakata, directly connected to JR Hakata Station, becoming the fourth directly managed store in Japan. The store offers a wide range of merchandise featuring popular characters such as Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda, including store-exclusive items and a game experience area unique to this location. [Already Reopened on June 27, 2025] Pokémon Center Fukuoka
On June 27, 2025, the only Pokémon Center in Kyushu, "Pokémon Center Fukuoka," reopened on the second floor of Hakata Marui, directly connected to JR Hakata Station, with its sales floor expanded to about three times its previous size. At the entrance, the Legendary Pokémon "Latias" and "Latios" welcome visitors. Inside the store, you will find a wide range of items including plush toys, Pokémon cards, and video games.

One of the highlights of the "Tenjin Big Bang" redevelopment project in central Fukuoka City, ONE FUKUOKA BLDG. (nicknamed "ONE BLDG."), is located at "1-11-1 Tenjin, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka." 【March 2025】Fukuoka Airport International Terminal
Following expansion and renovation works that began in May 2022, the international terminal at Fukuoka Airport will officially reopen in March 2025. This upgraded terminal includes enhanced security check areas, departure and immigration facilities, duty-free shops, a food court, and immigration counters, transforming it into a more convenient and appealing facility.
Departure Duty-Free Shop
The departure duty-free area has been expanded to four times its previous size and redesigned as a walkthrough-style shopping experience. At its center, a decorative Japanese-style tower creates an elegant ambiance. Visitors can browse a wide range of tax-free products, including fashion, cosmetics, and alcoholic beverages.
Food Court
Next to the duty-free area, a new food court featuring eight restaurants offers a chance to savor Fukuoka and Kyushu cuisine before departure. With 295 seats, the dining space has tripled compared to pre-renovation levels.
Arrival Duty-Free Shop
