Hiro is a famous brand of yakiniku restaurant in Kyoto, which offers highest quality of Wagyu beef for you to enjoy.
A brand of high-class yakiniku restaurant, Hiro is very famous in Kyoto. There are 3 groups of restaurants under the Hiro brand. The first group is Kyoto Kaiseki Yakiniku (BBQ) HIRO, which is the Yasaka-Tei located near Yasaka shrine and Gion Yamana-an located in Gion area. The second one is Kyoto Yakiniku (BBQ) HIRO which has 5 branches in Senbon Sanjo, Kiyamachi, Pontocho, Kyoto Station, and Hachijoguchi. The last one is Kyoto Yakiniku (BBQ) HIRO SHOTEN in Karasuma Nishiki and Shijo Takakura. Each restaurant has different styles and different menus (with the best quality of course), you can check the details in their website and choose whatever you want.
I went to Kyoto Yakiniku (BBQ) HIRO, Kiyamachi branch. The atmosphere inside the shop is similar to other yakiniku restaurants, but it provides a good smokeless grill, so your clothes won’t get smell after eating there.
There are 2 options of meal plans for you to choose, an à la carte menu and course-type menu. The course menus cost about 5000-7000 yen, including an all-you-can-drink service. You can order food and drinks within 90 min and stay for 120 min.
When I visited the shop, I chose the course menu. They served appetizer plates starting with salad, and then Japanese kimchi.
The main dishes were 2 plates of fine quality Wakyu beef. The beef melted in my mouth and the taste was brilliant! If you picked the course, you can have 1 extra rice for free if you are really hungry.
The last plate was Yuzu orange ice-cream, which is filled with the flavors of Yuzu. It was not too sweet and very delicious.
For anyone who cannot consume beef, the shop can prepare the seafood course for you if you request in advance. When I visited, they served 2 shrimps, 2 salmons, and 2 big scallops with vegetables that were also delicious after grilled.
