A traditional rustic home café is a cafe whose building used be a one’s house. Now it is refurbished as a café and popular among the Japanese. As soon as I knew the one in Kamakura, we went there to discover.

This time, we visited a traditional rustic home café named Mushin-an facing to the Enoden line Wadatsuka station.
Established in 1990, Mushin-an offers you a nice atmosphere of courtyard and Japanese traditional dessert Anmitsu and Matcha or green tea.
Since it was the peak season for sightseeing, we had to wait for an hour to get on the Enoden’s train.
So we went to the café on foot from Kamakura station, which took approximately 15 minutes and we found that it is easier to walk to the cafe instead of to waste time to wait for the train. For non-peak season, it is better to take Enoden’s train from Kamakura station and get off at Wadatsuka Station.

The dessert I ordered is Cream-Anmitsu(800 yen), a must-order menu. Cream-Anmitsu is kind of a parfait with kanten, red bean paste, bean, fruits, rice cake and ice cream. You will be served a small pot which black honey is in. You pour it on the cream-Anmitsu and enjoy the dessert.

You can view the Japanese garden from inside of the cafe. It is a good place to enjoy the traditional Japanese dessert at tatami room while enjoying the traditional Japanese garden, which is perfect to feel Japanese culture.

This is the menu book. "Oshinagaki" on the cover means “menu” in Japanese. Even the menu book has Japanese mood which made me feel relaxed.

Since the shop is facing to Enoden line Wadanozuka Station, you can see Enoden’s train from the cafe. It is another way to experience the Japanese culture while listening to the sound of Enoden’s train at a traditional rustic home cafe.
There is a notice saying "Please keep quiet inside the shop" and please remember that kids are not allowed to enter to this cafe.
How was it? Kamakura is one of the places that is popular among the foreign visitors and can be reached from Tokyo by train within an hour, but it is also a good idea to walk around Kamakura and look for some hidden sights.
