Sapporo Snow Festival, Hokkaido's biggest winter event, has been decided to be held in 2024! The Sapporo Tourist Association has announced the outline of the "2024 Sapporo Snow Festival (74th)".
What events will be held at the 2024 Sapporo Snow Festival (74th)?
With five large snow sculptures that symbolize the Sapporo Snow Festival as the main attractions, small and medium snow sculptures, citizen snow sculptures, and winter attractions are also planned.
International Snow Sculpture Contest
The International Snow Sculpture Contest is held for the first time in four years. The International Snow Sculpture Contest started in 1974, where teams from countries, regions and cities around the world compete to create snow sculptures. Since it is produced during the snow festival, it is the only event in the Odori Site where you can see the snow sculptures being made up close. The unique snow sculptures are a masterpiece.
Tsudome Site
For the first time in four years, the Tsudome Site, which is centered on snow experience content, will also be held. Families with children can enjoy playing in the snow, such as slides and snow rafts.

In cooperation with the Sapporo Curling Association, you can experience throwing curling stones used in official matches on the ice.

Characters appearing in the anime appear as snow statues.
Odori Venue 2-chome Sapporo International Art Festival 2024
A special art event held once every three years in Sapporo where you can encounter art works from around the world. Using the Sapporo Snow Festival as one of the venues, "snow town of the future" will be created.

Big Snow Sculpture: Upopoi (ethnic symbiosis symbolic space) x “Golden Kamuy”
Golden Kamuy is an action and suspense manga set in Hokkaido. A large snow sculpture was created in collaboration with this work and Hokkaido's Ainu-themed national center, Upopoi (Symbolic Space for Ethnic Coexistence).

Big Snow Sculpture: Thoroughbred running for glory
Hokkaido is a major producer of thoroughbreds with a long history dating back to the Meiji period. A large snow sculpture depicting a thoroughbred running through the Sapporo Racecourse aiming for victory in a race will appear.

Medium Snow Sculpture: "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters" Blue-Eyes White Dragon
Monsters from the anime “Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters” will appear at the Sapporo Snow Festival as beautiful snow sculptures!

A representation of Neuschwanstein Castle, which is said to be the model for the castle that appears in the fantasy animation.

Big Snow Sculpture: Old Sapporo Station
The "Old Sapporo Station" is the symbol of the entrance to Hokkaido Pioneer Village, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary. This will be recreated at the Sapporo Snow Festival.

The annual snow sculpture of Vocaloid Hatsune Miku. The theme for 2024 is "feast" inspired by winter in Hokkaido.
