Highlights of Nikko’s Kegon Falls

The highlight of Kegon Falls is the scenery of the vigorously flowing water from Lake Chuzenji. The nature of Nikko really brings out the powerful waterfall. The color of flowers such as the azaleas and cherry blossoms stands out in the spring. In the summer, there are greenery and cool winds, and the splashing waterfall help to alleviate the summer heat. In the early morning when it is clear out, you can even see a rainbow over the waterfall. The water flow is the greatest in the autumn, and you can see it flowing magnificently. The trees around the waterfall begin to change color from the middle of October, and it is the recommended season to see the combination of the beautiful autumn leaves with the waterfall. On cold mornings in the winter, you can see hoarfrost. When it gets even colder from late January to late February, the waterfall freezes over, creating numerous chandelier-like icicles. The small waterfall also freezes over, and the scene of the entire waterfall glazed in blue ice is amazing.
