The Largest Planetarium in Japan
In Osaka Science Museum, the planetarium’s main dome has a radius of almost 27 meters, which is the first and biggest in Japan and the seventh largest in the world.
In the planetarium, you can enjoy a trip through the beautiful starry sky with lights and music.
Enjoy Learning Science through the Displays and Experiments
The museum exhibition hall spans across four floors and has more than 200 individual exhibition items themed on "Space and energy".
On the “Electricity and Energy” 1st floor , visitors can learn knowledge on different types of energy through exhibits and experimenting with generating, sending and using electricity. On the 2nd floor “Enjoy Science!“ which is aimed for parents and children, visitors can play at an interactive experimental area using balls, mirrors, wind and sound.
The 3rd floor “Familiar Chemistry“ focuses on exhibits and experiments on substances familiar to everyday life, such as minerals, gems, crystals, plastics, textiles, medicines and smells. On the 4th floor “The Universe and Discovery“, there are displays of models and images featuring the mysteries of the Earth and Sun.
Hours and Admission
Osaka Science Museum exhibition hall and the science shows is closed at present due to the renovation from September 3, 2018. The whole buildings including the planetarium has been closed from December,2018. The museum will reopen around April, 2019.

- Exhibition hall (It's suspended): Adults 400 yen; High college student 300 yen; Junior High School Students or less Free
- Planetarium Hall: Adults 600 yen; High school / college student 450 yen; 3 yrs and over Junior High School Students 300 yen
- Opening hours: 9:30 to 17:00 (entry until 16:30)
- Closed: Mondays (or following day if Monday is a national holiday), New Year holidays and infrequent closing days.
