On the right-hand side of the first floor of the museum are many actual retired railway trains! The many trains of the past and those still in use today on exhibit here allow visitors to fully enjoy the interiors of different eras. Visitors also have the chance to see the top and bottom of the trains, which cannot usually be seen, and can even sit in the driver's seat and inside the different train cars.

The left side zone of the first floor has exhibits that let children experience operating trains in train driving simulators. You can see how hard it is to actually drive a train yourself. Next to this zone is a restaurant and souvenir shop selling railway related items.

If you go to the outdoor space in the Railway Museum, you can experience something a bit different, driving a real mini-train, which costs ¥200. In addition, you can take a 5 minute mini-bullet train ride for free in this area between the event halls and the library. At the library, you can read picture books about railways in Japan and around the world.
