Omicho Market is a historic market that has been used to support the lives of the people of Kanazawa since the 1700s. There are about 180 shops, and you can buy fresh seafood, local vegetables, fruits and sweets. The most popular souvenir among them is dried fish from Ishikawa prefecture. Since it is dried seafood and can last for a long time, you can taste it as it is.

If you want to buy dried fish at Omicho Market, you can visit shops with a variety of products such as “Ishimaru Shokuhin (石丸食品)” which is a specialty shop with dried fish and delicacies, and “Daimatsu Suisan (大松水産)” which was established around 140 years ago.

Higashi Chayagai

Higashi Chayagai (Chaya District) is a historic teahouse street made in 1820. The landscape with latticed buildings and stone pavement is very beautiful and full of atmosphere of old Japan. This cityscape has been selected as the Important Traditional Building Group Conservation Area of the country and is now one of the representative tourist spots representing Kanazawa.

There are many shops such as "Chaya" where buildings from that time remain as they were, "Select Shop" with Japanese sweets, traditional crafts, miscellaneous goods, etc., and Cafe which renovated a townhouse in the Chaya District. Among them, it is recommended that you can buy souvenirs unique to Kanazawa at places such as “Hakuichi (箔一)”, “Kanazawa Higashi Chajayamachi Lacquer Direct Shop (金沢ひがし茶屋街 漆器直売処)”, and “Nakataya (中田屋)”.

Shopping Malls such as Kanazawa Yakubangai Shopping Center and Meitetsu M’za

There are many shopping malls such as the Kanazawa Yakubangai Shopping Center (Kanazawa 100th Avenue), Meitetsu M’za and Kanazawa Forus around JR Kanazawa Station. Among them, Kanazawa 100th Avenue and Meitetsu M’za have a large number of souvenir shops.
