Walking across the surface of the snow in central of Sapporo.

The middle winter is coming in Japan.

How do Japanese who live in north of Japan enjoy winter season? I suppose that it must be winter sports.

Let me share Cross-country Skiing in Nakajima park of Sapporo.

Nakajima Park is located in central of Sapporo. Tourist can enjoy the different sceneries each season. This park is accessible and famous sightseeing spot in Sapporo. So I recommend that you go there if you go to Sapporo in winter. Because we can enjoy Cross-country Skiing for free. (Tourists and residents can rent skis and boots, poles for free from public service.) You don’t need any preparation for skiing.

This facility which you can rent is located at the south end of the park.

I think that it’s so difficult to have boots and skis.

Don’t worry!! The volunteer stuffs support you to have them. Staffs were so helpful and friendly anytime.

In my case, I couldn’t have skis smoothly. There would be knack in having skis and boots.

So the staff advised me to have it as below.

The whole park covered in snow. I forgot to be in central of Sapporo because the scenery is totally difference compared to summer. The course is 1km and flat approximately. It would be for beginners. It took 15min to go around the course.

The residents of Sapporo can walk well on snow.

If the followers behind you are speedy, you had better step aside to let them pass by.

There are a couple of small slopes in some points.

Mind the speed and your balance. You might fall to the ground like me…

The snow is like powder in Hokkaido. Nonetheless it hurt a lot… And it’s so hard to recover the balance.

The temperature in Sapporo was around minus 5 degree(-5℃) this day.

Have you ever had any experience that you stay minus temperature??

Just have warm clothes (You have to dress in warm coat, scarf, gloves.) and Enjoy!!
