The "KUROMI Afternoon Tea Party," an afternoon tea celebrating the 20th anniversary of Sanrio's popular character Kuromi, will be offered at The Westin Sendai's restaurant "Symphony" from Saturday, July 19, 2025, to Friday, September 26, 2025. In addition to the adorable Kuromi-themed dishes, the panoramic views of Sendai city from the restaurant on the hotel's 26th floor are also a major highlight.

Immersed in Kuromi Colors! An Afternoon Tea to Dive into Kuromi's Cute Worldview

The "KUROMI Afternoon Tea Party" this time features special Kuromi-themed sweets and original dishes incorporating Sendai specialties, all based on the concept of "a lovely Kuromi, with a glittering pearl and delicate lace adorning her hood, enjoying an elegant tea time." The sweets, unified by shades of purple and gray, which are representative of Kuromi's colors, are full of Kuromi-ness in their appearance! Designs packed with Kuromi's "cuteness" such as hearts and ribbons are also key points. This creates a special time that can only be experienced here.

The "KUROMI Afternoon Tea Party" is offered during afternoon tea time from 14:00 to 17:00, with different styles for weekdays and weekends. Furthermore, the summer-themed original optional drink, "KUROMI Drink," also differs between weekdays and weekends, allowing you to fully enjoy Kuromi's world in each drink. There is also the "KUROMI Evening Tea Party," which is available exclusively during weekday dinner hours, perfect for those who want to relax and enjoy the evening after work or sightseeing!

At the "KUROMI Afternoon Tea Party Weekday," you can fully experience Kuromi's world through a selection of sweets, savories, and drinks served on a three-tiered tea stand.

For sweets, there's a passion fruit and chocolate parfait inspired by Kuromi's "hood," fluffy Kuromi marshmallows, and banana and black sesame cheesecake adorned with pink ribbons. For savories, there's an strawberry sandwich topped with Zunda Mochi (sweetened edamame paste), and chicken brochettes with rakkyo (pickled scallions), which is Kuromi's favorite. Both menus are filled with dishes that let you fully enjoy Kuromi's world.

You can choose from 16 types of drinks, including JING TEA and Ronnefeldt black teas. You can enjoy an elegant afternoon while savoring aromatic tea in a space enveloped in Kuromi's world ♪

The weekday version of the original drink, "KUROMI Drink," is a refreshing slightly carbonated drink using butterfly pea. The beautiful pink and purple gradation is perfect for photos, and its translucent appearance makes it a perfect drink for summer. Furthermore, when mixed, the entire drink changes to gray, unifying with Kuromi's theme colors! This drink is packed with attention to detail that values the worldview, not just its visual cuteness.

Impressions & Food Review of the Kuromi World-Filled Afternoon Tea!

This afternoon tea is not only visually cute with its purple and black themes, but also packed with Kuromi-like attention to detail in ingredient selection and presentation, making you smile spontaneously. Among them, I'd like to introduce the menus that left a particularly strong impression.

Peach Espuma with Butterfly Pea and Lemon Gelee

The sweetness of the peach and the refreshingness of the butterfly pea surprisingly paired well. The way the blue of the butterfly pea changed to purple with the acidity of the lemon, expressing Kuromi's colors, was also a wonderful touch.

Cold Purple Sweet Potato Potage Soup

Purple sweet potato is often imagined for sweets, but this potage was even more delicious than expected! It has a subtle sweetness, is easy to drink, and has a gentle flavor. It was a very cute dish, very Kuromi-like with its beautiful purple color.

Blueberry and Passion Fruit Parfait

Kuromi's "hood" was recreated with purple chocolate, and its cute appearance instantly lifted my spirits. The balance between the sweetness of the passion fruit and the tartness of the blueberries was excellent, making it very delicious!

Whole Wheat Chocolate Scone

This scone has a moist texture and is very easy to eat. The chocolate is subtly sweet. When eaten with plenty of clotted cream, the deliciousness is further enhanced. It was a simple yet satisfying dish.

Overall Impression

It was impressive how various ingredients were cleverly used to express Kuromi's world, such as purple from purple sweet potato and lavender, as well as butterfly pea and blueberries, and black from black sesame and bamboo charcoal. On the other hand, many dishes, though black or pink in appearance, contained summer fruits like mango, peach, and watermelon, allowing for enjoyable changes in taste that kept it from getting boring.

Furthermore, the natural flavors of the ingredients were clearly felt in each dish and sweet. There was absolutely no chemical taste where only sweetness was prominent; every single item carefully brought out the original flavor of the ingredients, truly a menu that "maximizes the use of ingredients"! The appearance was, of course, gorgeous and cute, and beyond that, the quality of the taste was solid, making me truly impressed, thinking, "As expected, this menu was devised by a hotel chef."

It was an afternoon tea where you could enjoy cuteness, deliciousness, and even a sense of the season, truly immersing you in "Kuromi's world"!

For the "KUROMI Afternoon Tea Party Weekend," offered on weekends, in addition to the same tea stand content as the Weekday version, you'll also find Sendai-style buffet dishes like Zunda Sucre and fried Sasa Kamaboko (fish cake) wrapped in rose nori. Furthermore, a special plate featuring Sendai beef roast beef, slowly baked in the oven until tender, and aromatic grilled Sendai's famous gyutan (beef tongue) will be delivered to your table!

Other options include pasta, fruits, and vegan dishes. You can enjoy as much as you like for 120 minutes with free-flowing drinks.
