When I arrived in Miyajima, I was met by lots of deer. There were lots of deer on the way to Itsukushima Shrine. Visitors can freely take photos with the deer and even give them food. Next, I headed for Itsukushima Shrine. Itsukushima Shrine has a large red torii gate and is a building like a raised-flooring house. At full tide, the base of the shrine building is covered by sea water. I took photos of the outside of the shrine at the red torii gate, which was very beautiful, with pretty red maple leaves still remaining.

I ate lunch at a tempura restaurant. I ate Hiroshima’s famous fried oysters. On the way back to the boat, there were lots of Hiroshima souvenir shops which also sold food for the deer. I bought some maple-leaf shaped manju (steamed buns) as a souvenir.
