Karuizawa has long been popular as a high-class resort town in Nagano’s highlands and therefore has many pleasant hotels. Karuizawa is known for the many charms its various areas offer. We’d like to introduce some hotels where you can have a very comfortable stay, in three of Karuizawa’s popular sightseeing areas.

Karuizawa Prince Hotel: Shin-Karuizawa’s Popular Hotel Where You Can Golf, Go Shopping, or Ski, All Within the Hotel Grounds!

The Karuizawa Prince Hotel is one of the best hotels in Karuizawa, with extensive grounds. There are ski slopes, a golf course, and a shopping mall in the hotel grounds. The hotel is split into East and West area, and each side has unique twin rooms in the main building and cottages. If you choose the main building in the East, there is a dedicated hot spring and fitness room. The West cottages can hold up to 8 people in the largest, so it is very convenient for large groups. You can enjoy long quiet walks in the highlands, or take part in any number of activities at this hotel.

The Karuizawa Marriott: Spend Some Leisurely Time Among the Trees in Naka-Karuizawa

The Karuizawa Marriott Hotel has a main wing with the restaurant, a north wing with private hot springs in every room, and cottages that allow dogs. The big hot spring bath in the main wing and the private hot springs in the north wing rooms have different natural hot spring sources. If you stay in the north wing, you can experience both types.

At the restaurant, you can eat grilled food that uses carefully selected local Nagano ingredients. The morning buffet offers order-made omelettes and scrambled eggs with your choice of ingredients, as well as other standard breakfast foods.

The Kyu-Mikasa Hotel : The Historic, High-Class Hotel in Karuizawa

The Kyu-Mikasa Hotel is a hotel with western-style architecture that was open for business from 1906 through 1970. When it first opened, the hotel was where important visitors to Karuizawa stayed and was a centre of high-society in Karuizawa. In 1980, after it was closed, the hotel was proclaimed an Important Cultural Asset, and now you can visit and view the interior. When you’re standing in the lobby or guest rooms, it feels like you could bump into some of the young people who used to grace its halls.
