Getting to Osaka / Shiga
It's surprisingly easy to get to and get around the Osaka / Shiga area.
JR Kyoto Line Express
The JR Kyoto Line Express for Yasu departs from Osaka Station. You can use it to get between Osaka and Shiga in around an hour. There's no need to change trains, so there's no need to worry about getting mixed up between stations.
JR Shinkansen Kodama
The JR Shinkansen "Kodama" bullet train stops at Shin-Osaka Station, and can get you between Osaka and Shiga in a mere 30 minutes or so. Shikansen tickets are a little pricier, but it's the quickest way to get around, and there are no transfers, a good fit for people in a hurry.
