Aqua Ignis, A ryokan embracing the marriage of fire and water

※This article was published at March 2015.※

What comes to your mind when you hear the latin phrase ‘Aqua Ignis’?

Water and Fire?

A very strange combination?

That’s what I thought too, until I saw this amazing ryokan (Japanese style hotel) that really embraces nature as its charm.

Since there will be many information on this article, let’s make it easier for you to read.

The design of the area uses a lot of water element.

And yes, there’s a natural hot spring!

100% natural without adding water, warming, circulation, or additive.

There are 3 types of open-air baths placed differently between men’s and women’s bath.

Stair-type bath, sleeping-type bath (lying in shallow water looking up the bamboo forest) and big tub bath to enjoy the hot spring comfortably.

The men’s and women’s bath are exchanged every day, so you can enjoy a different one every day!

After a nice and relaxing bath, you can relax further in a very comfortable cushion near the lobby area.

Believe me, these cushions are very relaxing that you can almost fall asleep on them!

There’s also a leisure area where you can sit and enjoy talking with your family or friends, and there’s even a cute little cubicle with a candle on its table!

Walking to the edge of the area, you will find this bakery managed by a top patissier, Hironobu Tsujiguchi.

Fruits and vegetables used in the breads are all grown in the Tsujiguchi Farm in the resort area!

Don’t they all look so mouthwatering?

Another highlight of this resort is the four different villas, each designed by different artists who created special interior design using a lot of natural dry domestic wood matching the themes of each villa.

Sugi (a Japanese cedar), Matsu (a Japanese pine), Kuri (a Japanese chestnut), and Hinoki (a Japanese cypress).

You can also buy many good products for presents or souvenirs, such as tea, sweets, chocolate, aromatic candles, and artists’ original goods.

Do you think aromatic candles will be popular in Thailand?

All in all, this resort really has everything you need to relax and bond with nature.

The resort is also located not too far from a very famous tourist spot, Gozaisho-Dake, a mountain that is always beautiful in every season!
