WMG2021 KANSAI Special Activity Plans ~ Enjoying Nature ~

The WORLD MASTERS GAMES (WMG) 2021 KANSAI is a giant sports festival where if you're a lover of sports over the age of 30 you can participate in various sporting events regardless of past experience. From the 14th to the 30th of May 2021 this event will be held in Japan’sKansai region for the first time in all of Asia. There are a total of 35 events with 59 different variations including sports such as field and track, badminton, basketball,swimming and many more which will be held throughout areas around the 9 different prefectures of Fukui,Shiga, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, Nara, Wakayama, Tottori and Tokushima over a 17 day period.You can participate in 5 of the 59 total events by paying the basic fee.

Another of the festivals amazing features is the ability to not only participate in the events themselves, but also fully enjoy and experience various sightseeing and cultural exchange activities. We have introduced 5 different themes in this series being “Enjoying Tradition & Culture”, “Enjoying nutritious foods”, “Enjoying outdoor experiences”, “Enjoying Nature” and “Enjoying various sightseeing.”

Up until now, we have released “Enjoying Tradition & Culture”, “Enjoying Nutritious Foods”, and “Enjoying Outdoor Activities.” In this, the 4th installment in this series, we are going to be introducing the special activity plan theme of “Enjoying Nature.” This plan is going to include various activities that are surrounded in nature in the locations of specific events allowing you to escape the hussle and bussle of your typical everyday life!

Nara Prefecture’s “Enjoying Nature” Plan

Nara Prefecture is host to the tug of war and kanoe (sprint) events it boasts over 1300 years of history and there are many spots within the prefecture all filled with nature allowing for anyone who visits to fully enjoy their fill. How about trying out “Forest Bathing” in Nara Prefecture, which has been scientifically proven by scientists to have healing aspects. Through trying out the “Forest Bathing Therapy” in Nara Prefecture’s only recognized location “Yoshinocho Forest Therapy” you can experience walking through the woods, meditation, and breathing techniques, allowing you to relax.

Furthermore, how about visiting and hiking through “Kasugayama Primeval Forest” which is a very popular park among tourists that is close to Nara Park and is both a Special Natural Monuments and world cultural heritage. There are over 800 different types of plants that reside in this forest which is filled with culture and history, how about giving it a visit?

Nara Prefecture, which is known for “Buddha, greenery, and deer” has Japan’s first ever world heritage site “Buddhist Monuments in the Hōryū-ji Area” as well as various national treasures and important cultural assets. Nara Prefecture is overflowing with attractions all surrounded by nature and buildings that have a feel of ancient Rome which are in harmony with modern time streetscapes. How about using WMG2021 KANSAI as an opportunity to visit Nara Prefecture which could even be said to be the home town of Japan?
