Osaka and Nara, the venues of the World Masters Games 2021 Kansai, have once lived many famous warlords and their sites remains can still be found here. We are going to introduce some of the recommended tourist spots as well as the representative warlords, if you are here for travelling and participating in the games.

What is World Masters Games 2021 Kansai?

World Masters Games 2021 Kansai is an international lifelong sport event where anyone ages 30 years old and above and is sport lover can take part in.

It is the 10th games and will be held in Kansai, Japan for the very first time in Asia! How about indulging yourself in the charms of Japan while participating in the sport event? It is after all not so bad an idea!

Access between Osaka and Nara

Do you know that the access between Osaka and Nara is quite good?

JR

You can get to Nara without transit by using JR Yamatoji rapid service train. Although it takes about 50 minutes and the fare is slightly high, it is recommended for those who would like to relax as it doesn't require a transit.

JR and Kintetsu Train

Take the Loop Line from JR Osaka Station, and change to Kintetsu Rapid Express at Tsuruhashi Station, of which the journey takes about 55 minutes to Kintetsu Nara Station. It is highly recommended as it is not expensive and requires only 1 transit.

Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the man who valued the teamwork with people

A famous warrior in Nara, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who became the ruler from a farmer, is one the fewest great men in Japan history. His success as a ruler was not because of his own power, but the result of the teamwork with his vassals and people around him, as told from the historical facts. It may be good to aware of the power of teamwork, which is also needed in sports, before you challenge yourself in the World Masters Games 2021 Kansai!

Check out the picturesque scenery of Koriyama Castle Ruins and Dainagon Mound

Koriyama Castle, of which the renovation as a castle of 1 million stones was completed in 1585 together with the maintenance of the castle town, is a castle built on teamwork. The building was destroyed during Meiji period but the stone walls and moats remain until today as they were at the time. Dainagon Mound, which was built as the grave of Hideyoshi, who passed away in 1591, was kept as it was by the monks’ efforts. It can be said that the lasting Hideyoshi’s popularity even after his death is because of the trust he left before his death.

Osaka – Sanada Yukimura, even though a supporting role, the legendary and best Japanese soldier in the country? –

Sanada Yukimura, the legendary soldier loved by many in Japan

Sanada Yukimura is so popular in Japan, where his life and accomplishments are even made into NHK Taiga drama Sanada Maru. Especially famous is the anecdote of Sanada ten braves in Sanada Sandaiki (three generations of the Sanada family). Yukimura, although merely a soldier, has given a lot of troubles to Tokugawa Ieyasu. His intelligence and courage are the reasons why he was popular.

Sanada Yukimura never stopped challenging

Speaking of Yukimura, the “Winter Battle of Osaka” and “Summer Battle of Osaka” are the two famous Osaka battles. There are many anecdotes about his fights from his last battle, the Summer Battle of Osaka. Even though he was surrounded by the Tokugawa army, he never gave up and was able to attack Ieyasu for 3 times. This historical story continues to be handed down till today. Isn't that the fights of Yukimura telling us the importance of never giving up and keep on challenging?
