Katsuragi Kitanomaru was developed by the Yamaha group. This inn, standing in Fukuroi, Shizuoka was born after relocating an old, historical private house. It is a resort for adults with luxurious space where "craftsmanship" breathes, and the traditional beauty of Japanese architecture is interspersed everywhere among modern sensibilities. The resort was named after the comfortable space "Kitanomaru" which is one of the castles, and the locality of Kuzu, under the concept of "Accommodation that treats the Lord."
The Kitanomaru guest rooms consist of four buildings, Fuji, Aoi, Sakura, and Hagi, dismantled and relocated old houses that endured heavy snow in the Hokuriku region of Japan. The delicate interior design and furnishings make use of pillars made from long-aged, precious woods, providing guests supreme comfort. There are also plenty of bathroom amenities which make it an especially welcoming place for women. Additionally, a wisteria trellis is set up on the garden side of Fuji, and you can enjoy beautiful flowering wisteria (in Japanese, ‘fuji’) flowers from late April to May as the room name suggests.

There is fresh shellfish and local vegetables gathered from Suruga Bay, dinner with Shizuoka beef, and sake. As the evening curtains descend, the scenery of the garden and the natural forest weaving together are enveloped in light.
Kitanomaru’s sake is an exquisite complement to the food. Of course, they use local sake from Fukuroi, 100% Yamada Nishiki Daiginjo sake "Kitanomaru", as well as a wide variety of wines from around the world. In order to taste the best wine at peak condition, it is preserved at the sake brewery (wine cellar) in the hotel. Maintaining the storage environment so that the preset temperature can be kept at 12 to 14 degrees Celsius and the humidity at 70-75%, they take great care to keep the guests’ favorite drinks. Please relish upwards of 150 kinds of wines selected from domestic and overseas brands.
Enjoy a garden and a hot bath with nature
At Kitanomaru, there are three hot spots. "Yuzo," with an old-fashioned bathtub in old-tree beams and pillars, stone-shaped bathtub in the shape of a pot and a bamboo forest Japanese garden, "Yudon" for enjoying a rich outdoor bath, using grain used pillars and ceilings. "Yuya" is a spot of healing where the shades of the colors stand out. The spot that is specially recommended however, is "Yuzo". The heavy construction recalls the image of a mansion with beautiful old fashioned space that is made up of pillars and beams of an old private house spread.
