Gentle and gorgeous accessories born from real flowers

Hydrangea is a flower which suits the rain well. It is called ”four-petal flower (四片の花/よひらのはな/Yohirano-hana)” too. I use it as the brand of my company, because the flower is just too beautiful.

Interview with the creator

My production of accessories using preserved flower started with hydrangea. It all started as a hobby, as demand gradually increased, after thought about it for a long time, I decided to quit my job and own a business.” That is the voice from Ms. Yui Konuma, the designer of “Yohirano-hana (four-petal flower)”. Preserved flower is a material that is made by immersing fresh flowers in special liquid and drying them. There is no short-term deterioration, yet it features a fresh texture and a soft atmosphere that can only be displayed on real flowers.

The accessory using the same material shines beautifully beyond the real flower the moment when it is illuminated by natural light.

The leaf vein of a hydrangea is a lace pattern created from nature. When illuminated by light, the pattern brightly appears and adds to the beauty. While looking at her works, Ms. Konuma naturally agree with the reason she use “Yohirano-hana (four-petal flower)” as the name of her brand. It is just so beautiful.

Ms. Konuma saw an accessory using preserved flowers for the first time. it was sold at an overseas online shopping site.

"Since I used to like flowers from long time ago, the moment I saw it at a glance, I thought "It's so cute!”. However, I did not know how to purchase it, and the design was too flashy, it was not something I could use every day."

The greatest attraction of accessories using preserved flowers is that we can put on genuine flowers. It is an awe-inspiring originality not found in any other accessories. Ms. Konuma who was attracted to it thought, "Let's make it myself."

"I like to make accessories with beads, and always doing it. With that extend, I thought of giving it a try.

Initially when painting flower coating resin, I faced technical obstructions as air entered inside and formed bubbles. However, hydrangea earrings finally completed after overcoming several processes of trial and error.

“After all, it was just a hobby at the beginning, if have friend who wanted it, I will make for them as a present.”

That friend suggested selling it after seeing a high degree of perfection, and thus tried to display it at e-commerce site. Then, buyer appeared immediately as it was uncommon to be called "preserved flower accessories".

"But, I was not thinking about making a company for myself as an independent designer, because I enjoyed my work and I did not have the courage to quit my job too."

The turning point of Mr. Onuma came when she took a task as a lecturer for a accessories making class at a workshop. Reveal her work to a lot of people has become a big stimulus to her.

"The most impressive thing was that the creators I met there. They all are very energetic. I might be able to be work like them if I became an independent designer" That was the first time she started to think about building a new company.

“As the demand increased gradually, designing accessories is no more a hobby, but is a task taking me more and more time. I was busy with designing and creating the products, workshops and even exhibitions on holidays.”

“This was the time which make me realize that I can’t cope 2 roles at the same time. So, I decided to choose the one that I prefer for the rest of my life.”

As “Yohirano-hana (four-petal flower)” accessories use fresh flowers, there are no exactly two identical products even though they appear like the same at first glance. In other words, it is one and only in the world. Started with hydrangea, now we have a wide variety of accessories using rose, gypsophila, lavender etc., all of which are handmade by Ms. Konuma.

"Since I grew up being surrounded by nature, I feel very relieved when wearing flower accessories. So when making a product, we also value what we can “use every day”. Through “Four-petal Flower”, I want many people to know the joy of wearing flowers freely. "

It is difficult to carry genuine flowers every day. However, if it is an accessory of “Yohirano-hana (four-petal flower)”, you can bring it along with you always. Its beauty is full of gentle radiance, which will calm down the feeling of person who wears it.

“Four-petal Flower”, an accessory brand which uses preserved flowers, is handled by Ms. Yui Konuma from design to production. During employment period, she fell in love with “preserved flower accessories” that she found on overseas e-commerce site and decided to create it herself. Since the color and shape of petals are all subtly different, they are characterized by having a special sparkle and glamor that is one and only in the world.

All products are handmade carefully one by one.
