The Halloween season has arrived once again at Tokyo Disney Resort®. The special event Disney Halloween will be held from Wednesday, September 17 to Friday, October 31, 2025.
We, the FUN! JAPAN editorial team, also joined the press preview held for the media and got an early experience of Disney Halloween 2025. In this breaking report, we’ll share not only the highlights of this year’s event but also the unique aspects of “Japan’s Disney Halloween culture,” which attracts attention from Disney fans all over the world!
At Tokyo Disneyland, the Disney Villains Take Center Stage!
At Tokyo Disneyland®, just like last year, guests can enjoy a slightly dark yet captivating Halloween where Disney’s villains are the stars.
The biggest highlight is the brand-new 45-minute parade, The Villains Halloween “Into the Frenzy”. Featuring fearsome yet fascinating villains such as Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, Ursula from The Little Mermaid, and Jafar from Aladdin, the parade fills the park with a mysteriously thrilling atmosphere.
Unfortunately, on Tuesday, September 16, the day of the press preview, the performance was canceled due to high temperatures. It even became a hot topic on social media, with the term “netsu-kyan” (heat cancellation) trending on X.
That day, the temperature exceeded 31°C with humidity close to 80%. When we interviewed the PR staff on-site, they commented, “In this kind of weather, we have no choice but to cancel, so performances may be limited in September.” For updates on the day’s schedule, be sure to check announcements inside the park, the official Tokyo Disney Resort app, or ask a nearby Cast Member.
If The Villains Halloween “Into the Frenzy” is held, it is scheduled to be performed once per day.
At night, the fireworks show Night High Halloween lights up the sky, letting guests enjoy a magical atmosphere different from the daytime.
Don’t miss the special seasonal version of the attraction, Haunted Mansion “Holiday Nightmare”.

Also, be sure to check out the park decorations transformed for Halloween.
Tokyo DisneySea Also Features a Coco Event!
At Tokyo DisneySea®, guests can enjoy the Disney Halloween Greeting, featuring Mickey Mouse and his Disney friends. With two types of dances—Trick Dance and Treat Dance—guests are invited to join in the fun, so don’t miss your chance to participate!
In Lost River Delta, the brand-new Lazos de la Familia makes its debut, themed around the Disney and Pixar film Coco. This program runs until Sunday, November 2. Inspired by Mexico’s traditional celebration Día de los Muertos (“Day of the Dead” in Spanish), the area is filled with themed decorations and photo spots.
Guests can also receive a leaflet designed like a calavera (skeleton) mask by asking a nearby Cast Member—perfect for photo opportunities.
Around Puente Buena Vista, you may also encounter atmosphere entertainment featuring performances of Mexican folk music known as mariachi. Performance times and locations are not announced in advance, so consider yourself lucky if you come across one!
At Yucatan Base Camp Grill, special menu items are also available during the season.
In the Mediterranean Harbor area, if you say “Trick or Treat!” to a Cast Member holding a special bucket, you might receive a little surprise. Be sure to give it a try!

The nighttime fireworks show Night High Halloween will also be presented at Tokyo DisneySea, creating a magical Halloween atmosphere in the night sky.
Of course, Halloween decorations will be found throughout the park, including American Waterfront and MiraCosta Street, adding to the seasonal spirit.
Disney Resort Line’s Halloween-Limited Tickets and Souvenir Medals!
The Disney Resort Line is offering Disney Halloween-themed free passes and souvenir medals, available from ticket vending machines at each station.
Why Is Halloween in Japan So Special? Exploring the Serious “Costume Culture” Among Adults
During Japan’s Disney Halloween, adults are exceptionally permitted to wear full character costumes (head-to-toe cosplay) for a limited time. As a result, the parks are filled with guests in incredibly high-quality costumes that look as though they’ve stepped straight out of an animated film.
Some enthusiastic fans even refer to Disney Halloween as “D-Hallo.” They spend long periods preparing handmade costumes and props, transforming into various characters and visiting the parks almost daily during the season. Many of these fans also become influencers, inspiring new participants in the process.
Capturing Guests Enjoying Disney Halloween in Costume!
We also approached five groups of guests for photos, and we were amazed by both the quality and cuteness of their costumes. Their poses were picture-perfect! Also every detail of their outfits showed how completely they embodied their characters.
This “serious” costume culture is one of the unique charms of Japan’s Disney Halloween.
Follow the Rules for Costumes
There are specific rules for dressing up during Disney Halloween.
Full Costume Periods
Tuesday, September 16 – Tuesday, September 30, 2025
- Thursday, October 16 – Friday, October 31, 2025
There are no changing areas inside the parks. Guests should complete their costumes and makeup at home or at their hotel before arriving. A paid changing space (advance reservation required) is available at Ikspiari, adjacent to the resort. Please refrain from changing in public spaces or restrooms.
Additionally, there are rules about which characters and works may be used for costumes. Dedicated fans carefully study the official website and prepare thoroughly in advance. It may also be said that one of Japan’s defining traits is how seriously guests follow these rules.
