Underground Bicycle Parking Only in Japan!

Do you guys know that a lot of people in Japan use bicycle as their transportation?


Well this picture above is a bicycle parking near the train station called Kokubunji.


Now, why do people use bicycle as their transportation?


Most of the Japanese people use public transportation to travel around and to commute everyday to their working place or school. 


And not all people live near the train station, there are also people who lives maybe around 20 to 30 minutes walk from their house to the train station. 


That’s why people use bicycle from their house to the train station and put there bicycle there.



But not all bicycle parkings look like this picture above.

Now, this ground is 2.7 meters above the sea level, and can you guys guess what’s beneath this ground?

That light green little hut, can you guess what is that?
Beneath this ground there are actually a bunch of bicycles which are parked under there.

Well that is a new system to park your bicycle. 
Why is it underground?
It was made underground to minimize the space for the parking lot. 
And it looks a lot nicer right the the first picture of the bicycle parking? :)

That is where you insert your bicycle and the computer will bring down your bicycle to its parking lot. 
To park here you need to fill in application forms and pay monthly for the parking lot.
