Tokyo: Khaosan Tokyo Kabuki

First is from our capital, Tokyo. Khaosan Tokyo Kabuki is a hostel in the Asakusa area which is full of travelers from all around the world. One feature that especially sets this hostel apart from the rest is the fact that it has showers and bathrooms installed in every room, surprisingly rare to find in many hostels. The staff here are very friendly as well, some of them speaking English and makes the guests feel at-home at all times. The hostel was nominated the best hostel in Japan in 2015, and you’ll know exactly why once you get there.

Kyoto: K’s House Kyoto

Perhaps the most popular tourist destination in Japan, is Kyoto. There are plenty of options for a nice comfy bed in the city, however, the one that we would recommend is the K’s House Kyoto. There are a variety of room options, from shared rooms, twin, double, and a Japanese room with tatami mats. What makes it our top pick, is the view from the terrace, where you’d see the Higashiyama area in front of your eyes.

The location of it, only walking distance from Kyoto station is a definite plus as well. You’d also enjoy Kamogawa river in front of the hostel, where you’d enjoy scenery changing from season to season.

Osaka: Backpackers Hotel Toyo Osaka

Osaka is the second biggest city in Japan behind Tokyo, and perhaps the most vibrant and energetic due to its culture. The whole city is full of warm-hearted locals who would willingly help every tourist.

Hotel Toyo, located walking distance from Tsutenkaku, is the one that we highly recommend, as the hostel takes on the vibrance of the city within. The walls are filled with autographs and messages from people who have enjoyed their stay in the hotel. More over, the hostel hosts parties for guests where they serve Japanese food and surround a table to give opportunities for everyone to get to know each other more. If you’re looking for new friends and networking, here’s the place to go.
