Hokkaido Famous Icecream: MOUMOU

※This article was published at August 2015.※

MOU MOU is one of the famous stores that sells Hokkaido’s Soft Ice Cream. You can find these stores all over Tokyo. The place I usually go is located in either Odaiba or Asakusa (The mall right under the Tokyo Sky Tree).

Depending on the season, they come up with new flavours like Pumpkin, Blueberry, Chocolate, Matcha and many others.

And my favourite one is the original flavour. MILK!

You can choose different kind of toppings. The number one best seller is the Chocolate Banana, but for me the best one is Caramel and Almond Cookies with Salt.

The one on the right is the Chocolate and Banana.

Or you can order the Crush Ice Float.

Let’s learn how to order in Japanese!

For example, you want to order one chocolate and banana you should say:

チョコバナナを一つお願いします

Choco banana wo hitotsu Onegaishimasu.

When you translate it to English it will become:

One of Chocolate Banana Please.

Onegaishimasu means Please.

Wo is a particle in this context. In this case it means ‘of’.

So first you say the name of the food and ‘を pronounced as o’ and the number of orders. 1 is Hitotsu, 2 is Futatsu, 3 is Mittsu.

The last part you have to say is ‘Onegaishimasu’. This will make it sound more polite.

Well don’t forget to try the MOUMOU Ice Cream if you come here.
