Three Halal Restaurants in Sapporo

Hokkaido is one of the hottest tourist spot because of their beautiful landscape, pure air and their cuisine using local Hokkaido ingredients. Those rich ingredients are considered to create the best foods in Japan. There are many foods you should try if you find yourself in Hokkaido. This time we found two restaurants and one hotel you can have a local taste while you travel to Hokkaido.

Ramen Horyu Sapporo, Hokkaido

Among many great foods in Hokkaido,”Sapporo Ramen” is considered as one of the most famous local cuisines and there are many ramen shops that serve Sapporo style of ramen throughout Hokkaido. Among these ramen shops, Horyu is one of the most iconic as they serve ramen without using pork inside of their ramen. They are established in 1957 and introduced on the Michelin Hokkaido guide. The owner of this honorable restaurant contributed days and nights to develop the ramen soup without using any pork or alcohol so that his Muslim customers can enjoy his ramen as much as his non-Muslim customer enjoy. They also separate bowls and spoons for Muslim customers by putting green marks on them.



Halal Yakiniku Kou, Sapporo

Another famous part of Hokkaido is farms and ranches which provide local produce to restaurants throughout Hokkaido. You can enjoy Halal certified Yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) in a restaurant in Sapporo called Halal Yakiniku Kou. The atmosphere of the restaurant is like other regular Yakiniku restaurants available throughout Japan though they have also a praying room available. In fact, they serve only Australian beef which are all grass-fed and were sacrificed in Islamic way.  They also serve “Jingisukan” a famous grilled mutton cuisine originated in Sapporo.

A long history and well established hotel located in the center of Sapporo. Starting from this summer, the three restaurants inside the hotel will be serving non-alcoholic and non- pork menu while serving halal meat during lunch time. Each restaurants serve Japanese, Western and Chinese food. In addition, they have Halal-style bento(lunch box) available for you to bring along with you while you are on a trip throughout the suburbs of Sapporo.
