Spending luxurious time with afternoon tea at a hotel -The Prince Park Tower Tokyo Lobby Lounge-

As many of you might know that Afternoon Tea is a British culture. Yet, in Japan, a lot of hotel lounges have afternoon tea menus and a lot of Japanese women enjoying them to spoil themselves. I am also the one who are fan of hotel afternoon teas. I do afternoon tea once a month and recently I visited the Prince Park Tower Tokyo Lobby Lounge where you can enjoy afternoon tea with the Tokyo tower view.

The menu changes every season and when I went there it was an Autumn menu using seasonal fruits and ingredients like figs or pumpkins. Prince Park Tower Tokyo Lobby Lounge’s afternoon tea is 3,200 yen plus 10% service charge. It also comes with coffee or tea with refill services.

First, you will be served with a dessert plate. My favorite was a Kurikinton (mashed sweet potatoes with sweetened chestnuts: the second one from the right in the picture). Why I like afternoon tea is that I can taste several kinds of sweet in one bite portions. Especially a lot of hotels in Japan have their own sweet selections, but most of the time they are kind of costly. So afternoon tea makes you gives you a luxurious feeling with delicious food and tea while surrounded in the gorgeous environment.

And this is the most exciting moment that they bring out the three-tier stand. The lower plate -light meals like sandwiches or quiche so you eat this plate first. Because I already ate the first dessert plate, my stomach was already getting full but when I see the stand I feel like I can still finish them. This is said that I got “Betsubara (Another stomach)” in Japanese.

After finishing the lower plate, you will ascend to the second one. Usually, the second plate are consisted of scones. Each hotel has its own type of scones. Some scones might soft and fluffy and other might crispy. It is fun to find out which hotel’s scone is my favorite. The Prince Park Tower’s Scone is so crispy and light, and it is so good with tea.

At last, the final upper plate. Mostly dessert plate with cake and so on. At this point my stomach would be so happy and full with yummy food. I always go and have afternoon tea with good friends and talk hours to catch up. I always have a good time with friends during afternoon tea. There are so many hotels having that serve great afternoon tea menus with rich atmosphere, so why don’t you find your favorite one and have a great time with friends!
