Even though using the net with your smartphone even when travelling is getting more and more popular, not all of us want to pay for the rental pocket wifi. Maybe a bit old-fashioned, but there is still some kind of excitement navigating in an unknown place using a map. Also, even if you have the possibility to use mobile internet in Japan at a reasonable price, you will probably use your phone a lot, taking photos and searching for information. Therefore, it is quite likely that at some point, it will run out of battery.

Even if you didn’t buy travel guides or maps in your home country, you can easily get free ones in Japan. At Tokyo Station, close to Shinkansen (bullet train) Nihombashi  exit, there is  a Tourist Information Center. It would be easy to check out this place for example when coming from the Narita airport to Tokyo Station!

The center is not that big, but it has maps and travel guides also in English and other languages. In addition to travel guides about Tokyo, also guides about for instance Yokohama and Kanagawa are available.

You can also sit down to read the guides, thinking about where to go next.

Another good reason to come here is that you can use internet free of charge. There are several computers that anyone can use.
