Tateishi Burger is a very tiny bakery shop hidden in the eastern Tokyo few minutes walking from Horikiri Shobuen station.
Since few year it has been featured on many tv show and internet site for its very strange vending machine.
Just put 100 yen in the hole and you’ll see a strange system delivering you a burger.
Even if looks like a (very cranky) automatic vending machine, in fact it’s all activated by hand by the owner who is inside the shop.
The handmade system is made from some rope and small parts.
It can contains only one burger at time, so if you want to buy two burgers, the owner is putting them one after the other in the hole.
You can also enter the shop and buy some bread normally.
There are two others mysterious “vending machine”, but there were not working that day…
If you plan to visit Horikiri Shobuen garden, be sure to walk a little more to pay a visit to this legendary shop!
