Am I now so adventurous that I’m eating rabbits? Don’t worry – these are just cakes in the shapes of rabbits!

I love rabbits – I chased these furry creatures to Okunoshima Island, dubbed ‘Rabbit Island’, in the Seto Inland Sea on a holiday once.
Alas, I could never bring myself to eating one… unless, of course, their actually made out of sponge cake, with lots of cream, and have cute chocolate ears!

Spotted while on a hunt for a gift to take to a friend’s house, I found these rabbit cakes.
As you can see, they are cute.
Their eyes look out longingly to you; their blushing cheeks attract you; their ears are listening to you beyond the showcase glass.
I almost felt guilty eating this cake; fortunately, they’re delicious and cease to look like rabbits after a while.

The cake is composed of sponge, cream and a small fruit.
The cream is rich and of a high quality, and the sponge is saturated with the wonderful flavours of the cake.
The fruit is something seasonal – mine happened to be a small slice of orange.
You can seek out these little creatures at the Tokyu department store’s basement floor in Shibuya!
