Hi, Navio here!
How are you guys doing?
I went on a trip with my co-workers about 2 weeks ago.
We went to the 鋸山 (Nokogiri yama) of Chiba Pref.
On the way to the top, something enormous petrified me.
A giant statue of buddha!
I’ve never heard about this one.
Talking about giant statue of Buddhas, most of us, the one in Kamakura must have came first in our mind.
Then let me introduce you to another giant buddha!
According to Wikipedia, the one in Kamakura is 13,35 meters tall.
This one?
It’s 31 meters tall!
Beat that.
The giant buddha is marked with 大仏 (Daibutsu) on the map, make sure to keep an eye for it.
But I doubt you will miss it, the giant buddha is located on the right side, after you climb for a while from the main entrance.
According to the website of Nihonji, the statue of buddha which was carved from a big boulder, was first built in 1783, and got a makeover (rebuilt) in 1966.
It took 4 years for the renovation to be done.
Majestic. That’s all I could say about this statue.
Make sure you visit it the next time you come to Japan.
