Kamaboko is a traditional Japanese food, made by forming and cooking pureed white fish (surimi) into different shapes.
If you’re confused about what this is,imagine meatball made of fish.

In Ise city, Japan, there’s a 100 years old company called Wakamatsuya.
It has been creating ex-traordinary kamaboko.

Why extraordinary?
Because they use four different cooking methods; steamed, deep fried, broiled, and boiled.
Can you imagine different texture and taste in your mouth?
Now add your imagination with the freshest and tastiest seafood, then add the freshest vegetables from Japan.

Yes.
The kamaboko made by Wakamatsuya is unique because they add other natural and fresh ingredients to the surimi, and no preservatives at all!

What kind of ingredients?
Yuzu (A citrus fruit, fresh and tangy), octopus, squid, cheese, pickled ginger…
I’m getting hungry just for writing and imagining this!

If you want to buy it, here’s the main store in Ise City, Mie Prefecture, Japan.

I really like them all.
They are all fishes, after all.

Don’t they all look so mouthwatering?

But, this one is my favorite!
It’s called Hiruyouzu.
Tofu, carrot, mushroom, soybean, seaweed, edamame are all combined with the kamaboko, wrapping around a delicious quail’s egg.
It’s fresh, it’s tasty, it’s healthy!
Who would say no to this!

If I’m the owner, I would be very proud too to have such high-quality and tasty food!

They also sell it in Okage Yokocho, a recreated alley of traditional shops, near the Inner Shrine area (Naiku) of Ise Jingu .
