Mikawa, is an old restaurant specialised in into a mysterious Japanese dish : tororo-meshi and tofu cuisine.

Tororo-meshi is a bowl of rice and wheat cooked together, topped with a very slimy mix of grated yam and condiments like soy sauce.

Just pour the mix in the bowl and turn with a spoon. 
The very slimy texture might not please everyone but Japanese people love its gentle taste and the healthy benefits of yam (Nagaimo in Japanese.)

The lunch menu also as some pickles and grilled tofu skewers with a sweet and savory brown sauce called dengaku.

Other lunch menus also have fried chicken and many tofu dishes.

Here is an appetizer made of shredded tofu with vegetables.

Since it’s an old traditional restaurant, you can sit on low tables and tatami.

This place is just in front of the street going to Tomioka Hachiman shrine of Monzen-nakacho.
