There’s plenty of drinks vending machines in Japan.

Absolutely everywhere.
From juice to soda, coffee, tea, water or energy drinks, there’s an abundance of choices.

Cold drinks are available all the year long but in winter there’s even hot drink.

Sometimes if you look closer, you might see some odd cans…
Hot soup cans!

Mysterious?
Let’s have a look!

The most abundant soup can is corn soup.
Japanese corn soup tastes very sweet, almost like a dessert.
Children love it.
You can find plain smooth corn soup, but also version with cork kennels inside which is more consistent.

It you feel drinking something more savory, there’s even onion soup!!
Well, I guess it might be good as a complement with a lunch box or some rice balls in winter.

The last one i found is a sweet soup, Oshiruko, traditional red beans soup.
It’s very sweet so you might avoid it if you have on diet.
Sometimes there’s even small mochi pieces in the can.

There even vegetable soup and ginger chicken soup to warm you.
Those two ones are only available in vending machine on JR lines stations or platforms.

Vegetable soup has a cover you can close, so practical!
