Hello!
This article will introduce an atmospheric cafe in an old folk house located in Yanaka, which is a retro area of downtown Tokyo.
After exiting Nezu Station and walking for about ten minutes on Kototoi Street, you will see yellow sign that has “Coffee Kabaya” written on it.
Let’s take a walk inside.

This old-fashioned wooden house that was built in 1916 (fifth year of Taisho period) now functions as a cafe.
It has a long history as a coffee shop that goes back to the early Showa period.
The years passed by from the Showa period to the current Heisei period.
Although the shop was once closed, it was restored in its traditional form thanks to the cooperation of a variety of people.
The exterior of the building and the faintly visible ceiling and beams inside are from the Taisho period, while the yellow signs and chairs are from the Show period, so visiting the shop is a bit like taking a trip through time!
Why not enjoy a breakfast set at a cafe in this old folk house while slowly taking in the atmosphere?
Breakfast sets with toast or sandwiches including a drink are available from 8:00 to 11:00 in the morning.

This is the famous egg sandwich that has been offered since the shop was founded in the Showa period.
This sandwich features a fluffy, thick omelet between slices of bread.
You can also choose from menu items such as buttered toast and vegetable sandwiches.

In addition to the table seating on the first floor, there is also tatami seating on the second floor!
The cafe not only serves breakfast sets, but also offers sandwiches, toast, sweets such as anmitsu, coffee, tea, and a variety of Japanese-style menu including Uji green tea lattes, Yanaka ginger drinks, milk shakes, and coffee floats!
It is a perfect spot for having a short break when you are taking a walk!
The Yanaka, Sendagi, and Nezu area that is also called Yanasen is an area full of history that contains many temples, shrine, and long-established stores.
The Yanakaginza Shopping Street is a shopping district full of warmth and a retro atmosphere that is full of places to see!
